Run with us, raise money for Madison
We are once again partnering up with the Wheaton Lions Club and Wheaton Park District for their 8th annual Reindeer Run on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 8:30 a.m. This is a 5K holiday race held each year in downtown Wheaton. Every runner (or walker) receives a commemorative shirt, antlers and finisher medal. Holiday attire and costumes are encouraged! After the race hot chocolate and other post-race refreshments are offered.
This year the race is offering Madison the opportunity to raise money back towards the PTA. For every individual registration that uses our unique Madison code, the participant will receive $5 off registration and Madison PTA will receive $5 back. The code must be entered at the time of registration.
How does it work?
1. When you register through the Park District, use our school code is MADISON. This code will subtract $5 per person off the current website pricing for individual or team registration. Pricing goes up $5 on November 7 and another $5 for same day registration so we encourage you to register in advance to receive the best pricing.
2. The code must be used for compensation to occur. Wheaton Park District will keep track of every person registered USING THE CODE “MADISON” and pay an additional $5 per person whether they were registered as a team or individual to the organization shortly after the race and accounting is complete.
Registration is now open! What are you waiting for?

Donate to Christmas Sharing
It is Christmas Sharing time again! Christmas Sharing started over 25 years ago as a joint effort between the churches and schools in the Wheaton area with the goal being to provide for needy families during the holiday season.
Madison school is asking for your donations in order to assure the success of the program. Needed items include clothing (gently used is okay), new underwear and socks, blankets, winter coats, mittens, boots, paper products, baby wipes, diapers, baby food, baby clothes, toys, food, face/body soap, cleaning supplies, and other nonperishable goods. The program is also in need of cash donations.
Christmas Sharing tables are near the main doors through the first week of December. Thank you so much for all your support and together we can make a difference.
Questions? Contact Lisa Parrilli, Madison social worker.
Attend the PTA general membership meeting
Join us Monday, Nov. 18 at noon in the Art Room for our next PTA meeting. We will be discussing final fundraising results of the Fun Run and Trivia Night, along with how the PTA will be using the extra funds from the Fun Run. Can’t make it but have questions or comments, email Amy Angolkar at president@madisonschoolpta.org.
Thank you for supporting Trivia Night
Thank you to everyone who attended and donated to another successful Trivia Night. Our Madison community is extremely generous with their time and money, generating over $8,000 in revenue, which will contribute to educational events and materials at Madison. An extra special thank you to the Trivia Night committee: Katie Armstrong, Lauren DeReus, Mary Henderson, Kate Kessler, Lizette McNellis, Andrea O’Shea, Julie Schulz, Kelly Styrkowicz, Beth Tatro, Colleen Turner, Keri Widmer, and to everyone who helped set up and clean up that evening.
Volunteers needed for Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is desperately seeking a committee chair or co-chairs. Without a committee
chair the club will not be able to run this year. The purpose of the program is to challenge 4th
and 5th grade students to read and become familiar with a variety of books. Participating
students read assigned books and meet weekly with parent volunteers to discuss the books, which prepares them for the weekly trivia bowl format battles at the Wheaton Public Library. Interested or have questions, contact Amy Angolkar at
president@madisonschoolpta.org by November 1.

Math Club volunteers needed
We are still looking for some additional parents to help with 3rd Grade Math Club. Unfortunately, we had to cancel 3rd grade Math Club in October because there were not enough parent volunteers to make it successful. If you are interested in helping with the upcoming months please email Jennifer Denson, jmsuth@yahoo.com. Third grade meetings are on Tuesdays and the dates for the remainder of the school year are Nov. 12, Dec. 10, Jan. 14, Feb. 11, Mar. 10, and Apr. 14. All meetings are during lunch from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Hope you can join us!
Volunteer at Madison
Your involvement in the PTA helps make Madison a wonderful place to learn and grow. We
have many committees that are looking for volunteers. If you have some time to give, please
consider signing up to volunteer. A description of our committees and volunteer sign-up is
available on our website www.madisonschoolpta.org. Click on “Committee Sign Up.”

Save General Mills box tops and scan your receipt
General Mills is phasing out its clipped Box Tops, but some may still be found on products throughout the store. If you have Box Tops, send them into the LLC. If you've never been one to remember to clip and send in Box Tops but have a smart phone, just download the new Box Tops app, and scan your receipt to find participating products. The app will automatically credit Madison's earnings. Madison can earn ten cents for every General Mills box top scanned. The LLC has purchased many copies of award winning books. Let's continue the effort. Download the new app.
