Lucky Duck Day
Emma Love Hardee's administration celebrated Lucky Duck Day on Friday, January 13th. All staff members received a Rubber Duck with a number on it. Administrators spun a digital wheel each hour to see which staff member and class would receive a prize.
Painting Campus with Beauty
Mrs. Lesoine's Access Points class at Fernandina Beach Middle School received a Nassau Education Foundation grant last year for campus beautification - painting the walls of their building. The students decided what they wanted to paint and the colors they would need; they measured the area of the walls and the amount of paint they would need; they made a list of supplies they would need and looked up the costs, then figured out how much it would cost; and finally, this fall, they began painting. Paraprofessional Mrs. Leary created the designs, and with her help, the students have painted two of the four walls so far.

A Carnival Transformation
Mrs. Ballard's students at Wildlight Elementary returned from the break to a carnival room transformation! A red & white big top immersed the students in fun activities, all carnival themed! Circus sentences, three-digit addition bean bag toss, carnival food graphing, and read-alouds galore! Mrs. Ballard also incorporated Greatest Showman music & themed costumes!
To celebrate a week of fun learning, the kids even enjoyed popcorn & a cotton candy treat!
Learning from Community Members
Southside Elementary's 1st Grade students had a visit from the UF Trauma One Center. A paramedic spoke to them about safety, and they got to explore and walk through the back of an ambulance.
Jacksonville Jaguars Spirit Day
West Nassau High School celebrated the Jacksonville Jaguars making it into the playoffs by having a spirit day!
Counting to 100
In preparation for the 100th day of school, Mrs. Foose's class at Yulee Primary learned how to count to 100! The students practiced counting using 100 charts and math manipulatives. This week each student independently counted to 100, signed their name on our class accomplishment poster, and earned a new cubby pet.
Science Lab
In the science lab at Southside Elementary, Ms. Cacciapouti's class was learning about incline planes. Students were actively involved in creating them and documenting their observations!
