Our First Week

Our class is full of an incredible group of students this year. I am very excited to have all of them in class.

This week class will be business as usual. Expect to see math, reading, writing, and spelling homework throughout the week. Remember to sign off on your student's homework folder every night. I like to have you sign off on their homework folder so that you are aware of what your student is doing. I also feel that by having you sign off on their homework it helps students to remember their responsibilities as a students to get their homework done. Your student should be doing about 40 minutes of homework each night, 20 minutes of such is silent reading.

On Monday all students will participate in Walk to Math. We do this because sixth grade students are grouped based on learning styles and individual needs. Since I will be assisting the other 6th grade teachers with grouping students I have had to divide my fifth grade students amongst the other two fifth grade classes. This may sound a bit confusing, but actually works out well for all students and teachers involved.
