Bronco Bulletin Staff Newsletter
September 14-18, 2020
What's happening this week?
This week will bring some more changes but I know they are things we are ready to start. Help us welcome Devin Scott, our new PE teacher! This week we will be beginning PUSH and small groups, returning to library, and transitioning back to the gym. I'll send more details about PE after we get final word on a few things from our supervisors. For Monday, PE teachers will still be coming to you. Please be sure that if a parent tells you that their child or any member of their household is being tested for COVID that you notify me or Becky immediately so we can follow the protocol. You have done a great job of keeping us informed. THANK YOU! We are making another round of calls to C students trying to get them back in class. We are also trying to get the rest of the laptops returned. Be sure that you are getting grades entered into PowerSchool in a timely manner. This will help you to not have parents upset when grades change at the last minute. Now is the time to try and get some extra grades in to make up for the time out and the beginning of school. If you need anything, please let us know. There are many things beyond our control but we are trying our best to help with things that we can control.

From the parent newsletter:
Students and teachers are working hard to make this school year great. We are halfway through with the 1st 9 weeks. Please be sure to encourage your child to be prepared for class and to try his/her best everyday. If your child or any member of your immediate household is tested for COVID, please keep them home until you get the test results. Your help with this is greatly appreciated. If you have not paid your student's supply fee, please pay it as soon as possible. We still need many laptops to be returned. PLEASE return those to us this week. If you have a new address and/or contact numbers, please call the office so we can be sure to get those updated. Be sure that you join the teacher and bus driver REMIND groups and follow our FB page and our school website. We are doing our part to get info out to you so please help us by sharing information and helping us reach all parents.

Virtual Book Fair Information:
Virtual Students
Teachers,
Thank you for your work with Group C students. However, please remember these students can't be your primary focus. You are providing their lessons and activities but we are not requiring you to do their direct instruction as that's just not realistic. Please don't let them monopolize your time. Their parents chose for them to be virtual and they must be active participants in their learning. We are making contact again (for those that answer) and offering for them to return to school. Keep marking them absent and let us know when they are not completing work. The district is looking at some criteria for students to continue with virtual. Do not let up on parents-if their child isn't doing the work we will mark absences, grade the incomplete or missing work, and make referrals to FINS. Facilitators are helping bridge the gaps and many parents are using them to help The ones who are not receptive are the ones that we need back in school. Be sure that you let us know so we can continue reaching out and helping parents understand.
From the parent newsletter:
Parents,
We have some Group C, virtual students who are still not completing their work and this was reflected in their interim grades. If your student is not logging into their Google Classroom daily, they will be marked absent and will fall behind on their learning. We want your students back at school if at all possible. It is easier for them to be in class and getting their learning done here. If you are ready for your students to return to school, email Mrs. Thomason and she will see if she can accommodate your request. Virtual facilitators will continue to reach out to assist students. Please understand that teachers are not always able to reply to your messages immediately during the day as they are teaching. They will reply but please be patient. We know this is new and can be challenging but ask that you try to seek out answers and use the resources on www.lpsb.org that have been provided. If you want your student to return to school, contact Mrs. Thomason by email @ misti.thomason@lpsb.org and she will see if the school can accommodate your request.
Be sure to check out the DIGITAL HELP section on the www.lpsb.org website for lots of helpful resources. I've added a link below.
Bus Driver Remind Codes
Please join the REMIND group for your child's bus driver. This is a great way to communicate with your driver. Please remember that they are not allowed to reply during routes and will reply before or after their routes. Text the code for your child's bus to 81010 to join their REMIND group.
