Class of 2020
Senior Class Newsletter
January 2020 Issue
Hello Seniors!
- Post college application - your college applications aren’t a do-it-and-forget-it operation. As a responsible young adult you need to ensure that your application has a beginning, middle, and end. The end doesn’t come until you’re accepted to one of the schools on your college wish list.
- Send an email or make a phone call to make sure your colleges have received your application. While you’re at it, check to see that they have everything else they need, including your transcripts, any letters of recommendation and financial aid material.
Keep a watch out for scholarship applications and make notes of the deadlines. Getting an early start completing them. Check out the career center online or visit in person to see what's available.
- Do not let senioritis set in! Remember, schools will continue to track your grades as you finish out your senior year, so now’s no time to slack.

Complete Your Financial Aid Application
In Washington, there are two different applications for financial aid, but you only need to file one:
- File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) if you are a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- File the WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) if you are not eligible to complete the FAFSA due to immigration status.
You should apply for financial aid as soon after October 1 as possible. Do not wait until you are admitted to apply.
You do not need to know whether or where you plan to go to school or what programs you might be interested in to file for financial aid.
Visit the CAREER CENTER if you need help. Hours are 6:30 am - 3:00 pm every day.
