Canandaigua PTSA
September 2016
A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Welcome back everyone to the 2016-17 school year! I hope everyone had a fun-filled summer. Thank you to everyone who voted to elect me President of the PTSA. As a mother of children in the Elementary and Middle Schools, I look forward to supporting parents, teachers and students in all aspects of their lives. Let's work together to help each child celebrate how unique and special they are. School should be a positive, warm, inviting and inspirational place where children will cultivate a lifetime love of learning. Let all we do together help support that goal!
This is my third year in the district and I have been impressed with parent and student involvement, spirit and enthusiasm. School concerts and events have always been well-attended with family and friends beaming with pride and joy for the participants. This year, we will keep many of the traditional events and fundraisers, as well as create new ones to keep each school year fresh and exciting.
I urge you all- parents, teachers and students- to become PTSA members. Your contribution matters! With stronger membership, we are able to support more programs that connect parents, teachers and students together.
Thank you,
Julie Henry
Canandaigua PTSA President

WHY JOIN THE PTSA?
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Becoming a member of our PTSA does not require any volunteer time whatsoever!
This seems to be a common misconception regarding PTSA membership. As mentioned above, large membership numbers help show our lawmakers that we care about our students, our children, our communities, our educators and the entire education system. Membership is our voice to these law makers. While we do need volunteers for all our events, you are not automatically signing up as a volunteer just by joining our PTSA. We have seperate sign-up opportunities for each event and post chairperson opportunities in our newsletters.
As with any membership, there are also money-saving partner benefits through the National PTA and the NY State PTA. These benefits can be viewed here.
WHO CAN JOIN THE PTSA?
Parents, guardians, grandparents, neighbors, teachers, students, men, women, community members... the list goes on. You do not need to have a child in school or even have a child at all! If you care about parents-teachers-students and our schools, please consider joining.
HOW DO YOU JOIN?
For convenient online enrollment, click here. If you enroll online, you may pay by credit card or you may choose to pay the PTSA directly with cash or check after online enrollment is complete.
To print a membership form, click here. This form can be completed and returned with cash or check to your child(ren)'s teacher or dropped in the PTSA mailbox at any building.
We encourage ALL family members to become PTSA members; men, women and children!
