Elkton Elementary School Memo
March 8, 2021
A Note from Mrs. Palmer
Dear EES Families,
As always, we appreciate your support as we navigate through this school year. It certainly has been a year to remember. The students at EES, including our HLA students, have been our bright spots. Their presence brings us joy and happiness. They have been troopers each and every day. Many participated in Kindness Day by writing kind notes and/or delivering treats to staff. It warms my heart that we have such caring and kind students at EES. Thank you to our parents for raising such thoughtful children.
Students in grades 2-5 are expected to complete their assignments on ashychronous days. This is not homework. It is school work that would be completed if your child was in the school building. This school work mainly consist or reading and review.
I encourage you to nominate one of our outstanding teachers for the Inspire Award. Details are below.
Due to 11 snow days, RCPS has made a few changes to the school calendar. They are listed later in this memo. Spring Break is still in place as of now.
This week the 2021-2022 Kindergarten registration opens. You are welcome to register online starting March 8th(tomorrow). More information is below.
Family Life Standards will be taught this school year. The FLE Standards will be available to view through a link sent out by your child's teacher or you are welcome to come to the school March 17th 12:00-7:00 to look at the curriulum for your child's grade level. Teachers will also share an opt in/opt out google form to complete. The link below takes you to the Opt in/Opt Out form for each grade level.
I hope you have a wonderful week and enjoy the spring like temperatures.
I wish you well...

Inspire Award- Nominate a teacher
child by nominating him/her for the Inspire Award. This award

The Inspire Award allows the School Board and community to
regularly and publicly celebrate the impact that RCPS teachers make
each day, whether on a particular child or class, or by encouraging a
future teacher.
A teacher may be recognized once during a school year and
submissions must be received ten days prior to a board meeting.
The person making the nomination will be invited to share his/her
nomination essay of up to 200 words with the school board, and will
make the presentation of a certificate to the honored teacher.
