Hawk Squawk 11/4/21
Principal's Message
I love this time of the year, the crisp cool air, the falling leaves and the season of gratitude. Gratitude is choosing to notice and appreciate things in our life, things in others and things in the world; and, it's our character trait of the month. Counselor Brittany Erspamer has shared her monthly Counseling Corner with us this week. She has included a lot of activities (for instance, making thankful pumpkins like the one included here), conversation starters and reading lists for you to explore with your family. Please click on the photo below for additional information and resources.
At Hallinan, we have a lot to be grateful for, our beautiful school, outstanding staff, generous PTO, caring and supportive families and amazing students. I am grateful every morning when I have the opportunity to greet our students as they arrive ready to learn and thrive at Hallinan.
with gratitude,
Melissa Griffiths

HOPES
Don’t know what to do with that extra Halloween candy?? We have the answer! The HOPES Committee (Hands On Projects Encouraging Service) is excited to bring back a long standing Hallinan tradition. We are collecting extra Halloween candy that will be donated to a local non-profit group who sends care packages to our active military members stationed away from home. The candy, along with other care and comfort items brighten the days of our amazing troops. Want to participate? Simply send your candy to school with your student and they can place it in our silver HOPES bins that will be conveniently located near the library. Collection will run through November 10. Email Debi Panning with questions, debi01167@gmail.com
We STILL Need a Volunteer Coordinator!
We are still very much in need of someone to fill the Volunteer Coordinator position. No specific experience is required, just a willingness to help recruit and answer questions for our amazing volunteers! If you're interested, please reach out to Erin directly (hallinanpresident@gmail.com).
OBOB Registration Time!!!
Please look for the OBOB Registration Form that will be coming home with your children this week. You can also fill out the OBOB Registration Form (to edit it online, please make a copy of it) and email it back to your Hallinan OBOB Chairs - Gillian Flaccus-Irving grflaccus@msn.com or Lindsey Hargrove lindseymhargrove@gmail.com. Oregon Battle of the Books is a statewide program designed to promote a love of reading! Teams of four students compete to answer trivia questions drawn from 16 books in a quiz-show style format. We are looking forward to a great OBOB event! Please let Gillian or Lindsey know if you have any questions.
