Animal ID Deadline: MONDAY, MAY 15
The animal ID deadline is Monday. Be sure to purchase your ear tags and enter all your information in 4-H online by Monday night. Lease agreements must also be entered in your profile by Monday night. Review the Animal ID website for questions and additional information.
Premium Book Available NOW
The 2023 Nobles County Premium Book is now available at z.umn.edu/NoblesPremiumBook. Please take some time to review the book and reach out with any questions. Fair registration will open in FairEntry on May 22 with a registration deadline of June 30.
Register for Summer Day Camps
Four day camps for youth in grades K-5 (completed Spring 2023) will take place across the county this summer! Our first day camp all about robotics will take place on June 5 in the Farmers Room from 9:00 - 12:00 noon. Registration for the robotics day camp is due in 4-H Online on Monday, May 22. Other day camps will take place at the end of June and in July. Day camps are the perfect first 4-H experience for youth!

New in 2023, youth who participate in day camp will have the opportunity to showcase their day camp learning at the Nobles County Fair in August. Registration is due two weeks before each event and the cost is $5 per participant. Financial assistance is available. Register via 4-H Online (mn.4honline.com). Code of Conduct Reminder
As we near summer and prepare for many 4-H events, please take some time to review the MN 4-H Code of Conduct. The full code of conduct is available on the policies webpage. It is the expectation that all youth, volunteers, and parents abide by our policies and provide a positive environment for all youth in Nobles County.

Food Stand Committee Meeting
The food stand committee will meet on Monday, May 22 at 6:00 pm in the Farmers Room. We are still looking for a couple of staff people for this year’s 4-H Food Stand. Please reach out to Anna with names of potential candidates.
Nobles Cooperative Electric: It’s All about YOUth Field Day
Nobles Cooperative Electric is excited to offer an educational field day focused on electricity and energy on June 5, 2023. Learn more about electricity, electric vehicles, and careers. The event is open to any youth in grades 6+ and will take place at the Worthington office (22636 U.S. Hwy 59, Worthington MN). Please see the schedule of events. Please email Tracy Haberman at thaberman@noblesce.com by May 15 with your youth(s) names and t-shirt size to register for the event.
All Species Showmanship Clinic
Save the date for an all species showmanship clinic on June 10 from 9:00 - noon at the Nobles County Fairgrounds. Youth will have the opportunity to learn about showmanship practices for all species included in the Premier Showmanship contest. Registration will open in 4-H Online on May 17.
Food Stand Manager Needed
LQA&E Registration Open
Livestock Quality Assurance & Ethics (LQA&E) training is required for any youth exhibiting livestock at the Minnesota State Fair. In partnership with local volunteers, Rock and Nobles County 4-H will offer this training to youth who need to either secure or renew their certification. This training is meant for youth in grades 6+.
The 2023 LQA&E Training is June 14, 2023 starting at 5:00 pm at the Adrian Elementary School (515 Oklahoma Ave, Adrian, MN 56110). The three-hour training will be finished by 8:00 pm. A meal will be provided to participants who register.
This training is free to attend. Youth must register by June 7, 2023. Register via 4-H Online (mn.4honline.com). Reach out to Anna if you have any questions or need to check your certification. LQA&E certification must be completed and submitted to the office by July 26 to be eligible to participate at the State Fair.

Local Ambassador Opportunities
All youth in grades 6+ are invited to participate in our local ambassador program. As spring and summer approaches, there are many opportunities for ambassadors to help with county programming. Please take a look at the sign up and consider helping.

Registration is currently open for 4-H Camp at Lake Shetek this summer! Visit the website for more information. Camp is open to all youth in grades 3-6. No prior 4-H experience is required to attend camp.

New Vision Sponsorships
New Vision Co-op is pleased to announce the 4-H Sponsorship program again this year. Youth who participate in Nobles County 4-H and patronize New Vision Co-op are encouraged to apply. The deadline to sign up is June 2nd, 2023. The application process is completely online this year.

Photo Challenge: Up Close & Personal
Minnesota 4-H Photography is excited to offer a statewide photography challenge to youth in grades K-13. In the "Up Close & Personal" 4-H photo challenge, youth are encouraged to select their best close-up photo taken during the 2022-2023 4-H year and tell the committee why it’s special to you. Submit one (1) image (with no or minimal editing) with up to two (2) sentences explaining why it’s important by 11:59 p.m. on June 5, 2023. YELLO is the statewide leadership conference and includes educational workshops, group networking experiences, inspiring messages from nationally-recognized speakers, field trips and opportunities to contribute to the local community through service projects. YELLO Chaperones Needed
Youth Engaged in Learning and Leadership Opportunities (YELLO) is the premier statewide youth leadership conference for youth in grades 7-13 in Minnesota, and we rely on a team of volunteer chaperones to help make the experience possible. YELLO will be returning to Bemidji this year, marking our second time ever holding YELLO outside of the Twin Cities. YELLO 2023 is coming up June 13-16 at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota.
Chaperones perform a variety of roles that help make YELLO possible. You can read more about the Chaperone Role here. If you would like to apply to be a chaperone, please submit an application using this form. Ag Academy: Passion to Career in Willmar, Minn.
Join us, as well as our partners at FFA, for Ag Academy: Passion to Career– a unique opportunity for youth in grades 7-11. This three-day, two-night camp runs from June 22-24, and is located at Ridgewater College in Willmar, Minn.
At this camp, youth will have the chance to explore different careers in agriculture, food and natural resources (AFNR) while experiencing a college campus. In addition, college professors and industry leaders will provide hands-on learning experiences on topics like animals, communications and more. Participate in State Arts In
This year, State Arts-In will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Youth in grades 9+ can be a part of this community of young adults. They will put together a show, develop new skills, and grow in leadership, teamwork and goal setting. This event will take place on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, Aug. 10 - 17 and Aug. 22 - Sept. 4. From highly experienced youth to those with little experience, all can learn and grow from this program.
Registrants will rank their choices of "majors" to participate in: band, tech, costuming, and performing. Directors will make final selections of major choices. Those who register by June 30 will receive a $50 discount. Registration and program details (including online info sessions for youth and families) can be found at z.umn.edu/statearts-in.

Minnesota 4-H is excited to offer 4-H Stock Talks and we want to hear from you! A stock talk is a short video presentation about an animal science topic of your choice. Your stock talk can be creative, funny, or serious - just be yourself! Video submissions are due June 30.

Engineering Design Challenge
The 4-H Engineering Design Challenge is a friendly challenge program for teams of youth in grades 3-8 and 7-12.
This year, youth will use principles of engineering to create a Rube Goldberg™ machine that completes a 2-step task designed to Take Your Best Shot and create a celebration
Participants will also have the option to showcase their designs in-person on August 7 at St. Cloud State University, or virtually on August 15.
