Talley Street Update
March 17, 2022
Dear Talley Street Community,
For parents who still want their children to wear a mask at school, please make sure they wear one to school and have extra masks in their book bags. We are having many students coming to school without a mask but requesting one from the office. We have a very limited supply of masks to give out. Have a great afternoon!
How We Express Ourselves at Talley
As an IB candidate school, our students work through six Units of Inquiry throughout the school year. In Term 4, all grade levels worked on their How We Express Ourselves unit. Our wonderful Specials teachers used this unit of inquiry as an opportunity to showcase the students' hard work. The work showcased includes images, videos and explanations of How We Express Ourselves in Spanish, Music, P.E, and Art. The link is now LIVE! Click on the button below to view our students' amazing work!
CSD Summer Programs - Save the Date!
CSD is delighted to share that we will offer an in-person summer program for students who qualify in grades K through 12. The program will run June 6-23 from 8:30 to 11:30 am, Monday through Friday. Students will be invited to participate in the summer program based on the eligibility criteria described in the linked document. Participation in the summer program is not required or mandated for any student. However, we highly encourage students who qualify to engage in this opportunity as it will set them up for success in the next grade level. For the summer program, which will be held at Fifth Avenue Upper Elementary and Decatur High School, the availability of student transportation is limited. Click here for more information.

Recorders for Music
Hello Students and Parents!
I am so excited to announce we will begin learning about and playing recorders very soon! I know many students already have recorders, but if you do not have a recorder or you would like to have an extra one for home and keep one at school or just simply want a new one, please fill out the order form below. Recorders will be used as a fun way to learn a beginner instrument, learning notes on the treble staff, reading rhythms and notes, ensemble playing, ear training and eye coordination. The list goes on and on! The student book for home practice is optional and comes with all the songs and music. I encourage those students who show interest and desire to learn and master to have this at home.
To order, please fill out the form with secured payment attached and return to your child’s homeroom teacher no later than Friday March 18. Checks should be made to Talley Street Elementary School and in the memo section student name and the word recorder please.
Email me with any questions. firstname.lastname@example.org
