Catholic School Board Update
Dear School Families, Teachers, and Staff,
My name is Theresa Dethlefs and my son, John Butler, graduated from St. Patrick three years ago. I am finishing my second 3-year term on the school board this Spring and currently serve as Vice-President. It has been an honor to be involved in this capacity with such an outstanding school and I will miss this connection to it.
Below are some updates from the February School Board Meeting:
Our annual appeal was a huge success and brought in over $63,000 in cash donations. Nearly 300 people attended this year’s Main Event, and we will have information on our profits soon. Thank you to all our sponsors and everyone who attended and helped out. Special thanks to Natalie Deery and Katie Hein for their leadership and tremendous work in organizing the event this year!
The Board continued discussions about the Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) as they relate to tuition over the next several years. If you have questions about how the ESAs may impact your family, please visit the website or contact the school.
Changes to the 2023-24 academic calendar were approved by the Board. These include several minor changes, the most notable one being that students will be out of school for the full week of Thanksgiving.
The Board discussed minor changes to the School Uniform Policy which will be voted on in April.
Two Board members–Erin Lyons and Ryan Occena–will serve as representatives on the Parish Property Development Committee for the recently purchased property directly across Washington Street east of the school.
The school safety plan is still being finalized to incorporate recommendations from the Archdiocese and the safety assessment conducted last Fall.
If you are interested in serving on the School Board, please contact a School Board member! Elections will take place in May.
Thank you for your continued support of St. Patrick Catholic School. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
On behalf of the School Board,
Next Board Meeting
Our next meeting is Thursday, March 30, at 6 PM in the Youth Center in the Church basement. Please note this location change. Remember that our school board agendas and minutes are available on the CSB page on our website. A few days before each meeting, you'll find the agenda linked from the calendar on the homepage.
Tell your friends about our upcoming SPRING OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, April 6, and our KINDERGARTEN VISIT DAY on Wednesday, April 19th. Open House is a great opportunity for people to learn about our school and the new Education Savings Accounts that kindergartners, students transferring from public school, or homeschooled students can use for tuition and other qualifying fees. We are confident that many families don’t yet understand this opportunity.
2022-2023 CSB Members Back: Adam Schaefer, Molly Lahart, Theresa Dethlefs, Patrick Burke, Erin Lyons. Front: Emily Paxton, Lisa Ahern, Ryan Occena.
