A note from your teacher...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope you all had a fun and relaxing Winter Break! I am very excited to see all of the students return on Tuesday for a great first day back! On our first day back we will get right back into the swing of things and our normal routines.
NWEA scores should have been emailed to you from the district. I will no longer be sending them home and they will be automatically emailed to you.
A reading/math log and behavior chart will begin to go home tomorrow. Kids will be expected to read 20 minutes a night for a total of 80 minutes each week. They should practice math facts 10 minutes a night also. The math can be on the computer, iPad, flash cards, game, or anything that you choose. This log will go home each day and come back to school for me to check. On the back of the log will be a behavior chart. Kids will fill this out each day to let you know how their day was. PLEASE CHECK THIS EACH NIGHT.
We wil spend some time going over this tomorrow so I know the kids understand this. This week will be a practice round so please try and help them become responsible with this new homework. We are half way to third grade so I am going to challenge them and help them to become more independent.

Math- We are starting a unit on Money. We will take some time this week to explore the different coins and values. IXL has several different activities that students can get on to practice money. They can also get on Tangle Math and use the coins to practice. If you would like plastic coins please let me know.
Reading- We are starting a unit on Fairy Tales and Fables. This week we will begin to explore Fairy Tales, story elements, and compare and contrast.
