Wichita Stewardship Conference
- "Stewardship? That's Father's new thing!"
- "It's all about them asking for money."
- We've tried that before. It didn't work."
- "We've never done it that way before. It won't work!"
One of the many ideas that were cemented into our brains while we were there was the idea of increasing communication within our parish. I hope you were able to read the U-Knighted, which came out via email last Friday. It was sent to EVERYONE in our parish, whether they had kids in school or not. The idea is to get EVERYONE involved in our parish, and Norfolk Catholic is part of the parish! Read it again and forward it on to your family and friends and let them know the GREAT things we're doing at NC.
Let your administrators know, too! We want to share the good news about NC with our school board, parish boards, and wider community. We are more than just a great sports program! Share with us the great things you are doing....and better yet, take a picture of it and Tweet it! I am meeting with the education editor of the Daily News this afternoon to see how we can get more NC news in the paper. But I can't be everywhere at once; I need to get that great NC news from you!
I am also very excited about the Annual Report, which will be published and mailed to all of our stakeholders at the end of September. Leisa Piper and Stephanie Chandler have created a 16-page, full-color magazine-type publication that focuses on Norfolk Catholic. There will be stats, pictures, feature stories on students and families and more! Another way to publicize the great things we're doing at NC! I'd love to hear your feedback after you've had a chance to read it.

We are a T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More)
Our next major event is Spirit, which is on November 8 this year. This is by far the biggest fundraiser we have for our school and we expect that all teachers and staff members either ATTEND or WORK at Spirit this year. Many of you work in the kitchen or as bartenders and many others attend as guests. But we want to see 100% of NC staff at Spirit in some capacity. Buy your ticket now or contact Leisa Piper to work. We will need workers in these areas:
- Waiter/Waitress – serve 1-2 tables
- Host/Hostess – greet people, pick up bid cards, take receipts out to patrons once items are entered into the computer
- Oral Auction spotters – REALLY NEED THESE!!! - WALK AROUND THE CROWD AND WATCH FOR PEOPLE MAKING A BID AND RECOGNIZE THEM TO THE AUCTIONEER
- Oral Auction Recorders – people to sit by the auctioneers stage and write down who won each item and for what dollar amount
- Raffle ticket sellers – sell tickets at a station during the silent auction phase of the night.
- We will need 1-2 teachers walking around with computers, showing guests the technology we have/need/want.
We also have the need for 20-30 people to help clean up Spirit on Sunday morning. We need people from around 9AM until 11AM. We'll need to take down tables and chairs, help Triple A take down their stuff and load into their vans, pull all tablecloths, vacuum the rugs, sweep the floor, etc. We would love to have a group of kids that you help coach or sponsor be that group. Maybe the newspaper staff, or the show choir, or the junior high football team, or the Key Club could be that group. Making broad "asks" for volunteers doesn't work well; we have to be more specific in our "asking." If your group can help, let me know. If not, I'll be more specific in my asking in a couple of weeks!
Why are we here? To make and grow disciples like Anna!
