Rocky Branch Bulletin
Parent Newsletter - August 2021
Welcome to the 21-22 School Year!
Whether you are a new or a returning family, I want to extend a personal WELCOME or WELCOME BACK! For the first time in my career, I do not believe I have been more excited to start the school year! Last year was a difficult year for so many families and educators. We are thrilled to welcome back all of the things we missed last year, including having parents and volunteers in the building!
Dr. Branch, OCS Superintendent, sent a letter to all parents on Thursday. This letter shares details about the beginning of the year and COVID protocols for the 21-22 School Year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at anytime.
On behalf of the faculty and staff of Rocky Branch Elementary, we look forward to another school year doing what we love..... teaching your children!

Meet the Teacher
August 2nd from 8:30 - 12:30 is your opportunity to meet your child's teacher. All families should enter through the front door. Proceed to the grade level hall for your child. Staff will be available to assist you to locate the teacher/classroom.
Feel free to bring school supplies at that time. If you ordered supplies online, they will be in your child's classroom. If you have medicine your child will be taking at school, please come to the cafeteria to see Nurse Ashley.
Make sure to stop by the cafeteria, after you visit the classroom. There will be several stations, providing information and opportunities.

Bus Routes
As we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year, we are excited to provide you with important back-to-school information for bus riders. Bus routes, with approximate pick-up and drop-off times, will be available on July 26th located at www.oconeeschools.org/busroutes. Simply select the tab(s) at the bottom to navigate to your child(ren)'s schools.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the supervisor at their phone number or email address. This will be listed at the top of the page.
Making your life easier.....
In an effort to continually improve our communication with parents, we have developed ONE document with all the information you need! Using the Rocket Hub, you are only one click away from finding what you need to know. This will be updated throughout the year with relevant information (i.e. Book Fair Schedule.) If there is something you would like to see added, please let Laura Mason know. We hope you will find this document helpful throughout the year. Make sure to bookmark this on your phone or computer.
First Day of School
Beginning on the second day, parents are encouraged to allow their child to walk by themselves. We will have several staff throughout the building, to ensure your child finds their classroom. We encourage and promote student independence, and appreciate your support. If you would like to escort your child, beginning on August 5th, you will need to sign in with the front office. Students who are anxious about leaving their parents do much better when the parent leaves their child at the front, instead of in the classroom. Morgan Power, our school counselor, is happy to assist with any students who are having difficulty leaving their parents.
Volunteer Training Dates
We LOVE our volunteers! If you wish to volunteer in any capacity this year, please make sure to attend one of the sessions.
Change in transportation?
Parent notes or phone calls will not be accepted.
Any change to transportation for a student must be made by 2:00.
Curriculum Night
After School Clubs
For your information - the year long Chorus Club for 4th and 5th graders will be on Mondays beginning in September. This will not conflict with Girls on the Run which will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
IMPORTANT - Registration closes on August 1st for Girls on the Run.
