In Case You Missed It:
Thank you to EVERYONE's cooperation and flexibility last week during the PSAT for our 8th graders and survey for 7th and 6th grade. We were able to complete different requirements in a short amount of time with minimal interruptions to our regular schedule. The survey people could not get over how well the schedule went and how quickly they were able to get the information they needed. As always, these guests were extremely complimentary of our kid's behaviors and our system set up for them to complete their tasks.
Band/orchestra teacher, Cole Merricks, planned a beautiful evening of music for a full house of families and friends of our Stallions on Tuesday. Thank you to Brian Caldwell for playing the keyboard with the 8th grade orchestra and Ellen Duncan for decorating the windows with Stallion artwork leading to the gym. It was wonderful to see Drew Lyerly, Jake Stevens, Katie White, and Sara Yoder also come out to support their students and Stallion Family!
Our elective teachers began the process of having sixth grade students select their classes for second semester on Friday. They will complete this on Monday with any students that were unable to complete Friday.
Thank you to the Systems Team for coordinating the collection and everyone that was able to contribute towards a Visa gift card for Natalie Davis. Cynthia took it by on Friday and said she was in good spirits and extremely appreciative. I received word Friday morning that Natalie will not be back to work the remainder of this year. Please continue to keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
We have a new Health and PE teacher coming to join the team for the second semester (pending Board approval). Her name is Brianna Simmons. She has been teaching in Davidson County, recently married a sheriff's deputy in Cumberland Co., and has been looking for our position closer to this area. She has been offered other jobs, and chose us because of our family atmosphere and team approach. Brianna is originally from CA where she was an AVID student. A scholarship to attend St. Andrews College brought her to NC. Brianna is excited to join an AVID school-wide school on Monday, January 23.
It's nice to hear from guests that our Stallions know how to behave :)
Getting in the spirit!
