Livonia PTSA Council Courier
December 2021

Welcome to December!
I don't know about you, but it feels like the year is flying by! Our units have been doing so many wonderful things for our LPS families, students and staff.
The Livonia PTSA Council wishes everyone Happy Holidays! Let us know the fun things you are doing this month!

Reminder
Please remember that you need to follow your bylaws with regards to canceling/changing meeting dates. Recently, three schools have canceled their meetings on the day they were scheduled to be held. Unless it’s an emergency and the whole board is ill, quarantine, etc., the VP can run the meetings.

WHO'S READY FOR A MEMBERSHIP CHALLENGE?!
The Livonia PTSA Council has created a Membership Challenge that we hope all units will participate in! The unit with the highest percentage increase in membership from Thanksgiving through Christmas will win a handful of Council members to volunteer at ONE of your school events taking place any time between January and March.
Think of how nice it'll be to plan an event knowing you have a GUARANTEED handful of volunteers. How nice will it be to be able to participate with your family instead of running the entrance tables, handling the pizza, the snack table, manning the book fair register, etc.?
*Please note, this does NOT include any of us getting slimed, pie in the face, or anything else messy.*
Don't forget to send Michigan PTA their dues for every new member by the 28th of the month.
Get creative with your membership and Best of luck!

Livonia Night of Lights!
UNITS!!! Would you like to volunteer at Greenmead's Night of Lights event? It sounds like this event is going to be even bigger and better than last year, which means they're going to need MORE VOLUNTEERS – please take a look at your schedule for the next few weeks and see if you're available!
On the signup genius, please put your UNIT NAME in the comment section when volunteering – we've received word that declared volunteers can help raise money for their group! Please email me at amandagerstenbrand@gmail.com to let me know you've signed up, so we can keep track of everyone.
Questions? Please contact Robb Drzewicki livoniaptadad@gmail.com

PEP points!
'Tis the season!
By now, you should have submitted everything to be in compliance and to be up to date with your PTA/PTSA unit's Standard of Affiliation. If you have not, please do so ASAP.
*Please note, some units may still be having an issue uploading their insurance information and having it show as being the correct year's information in Memberhub. Memberhub and Michigan PTA are aware of this issue and are working to resolve this. If your unit is one that is affected by this, please know that you may have to resubmit your insurance information into the system once it is fixed.
Have you and your PTA/PTSA board asked, how can we earn more PEP points? It's easy! When you have your monthly meeting, email your liaison, CC PEP, and invite them to the meeting. Did your unit do something this month? Write an article to be put in this amazing newsletter, CC PEP when submitting. Are you attending Founders' Day in February? Earn points for every person who attends. Create a centerpiece for your Founders' Day table and earn even more points. Are you gaining more members and accepting the Membership Challenge? If you achieve last year's membership number, that's another 250 PEP points! Exceed last year's numbers by at least 50 members and earn even more points! And much more!
For a breakdown of PEP points per unit, please visit Livonia PTSA Council's website at https://livoniaptsacouncil.org/work/pep/. At the bottom there will be a link to click to view the breakdown that matches the screenshot above the link. Please note the date of the PEP standings.

Kennedy PTA Is Grateful for the Staff
Kennedy PTA wanted to show our gratitude toward our staff during the month of November. To celebrate our staff, we encouraged families to submit a Staff Shout Out that we would send. Parents and students were invited to share their thanks and positive messages. Since it's cold and flu season, we also gave each teacher a pack of Lysol wipes or spray with a cute message. Lastly, and what our staff most appreciated, was that PTA board members volunteered to cover end of day recess duty for each person who had duty over the course of several weeks. Our board ended up covering 25 staff members! We are thankful for our hardworking staff and their support of PTA.
Webster Elementary
The Webster PTA has spent the first half of November promoting and gathering Reflections entries. One of our VPs came up with a cute idea to show the staff why we are thankful for them. She created Thankful notes that we distributed to all the classrooms. The kids then filled them out and secretly brought them back to school. We then sorted and distributed them to the staff the day before Thanksgiving break. It was so wonderful to see the kids writing notes to current and former teachers, specials teachers, custodians, the principal, food service and we even had a couple written to the PTA!
