Book Week
Books Light Up Our World!
This year's theme was 'Books Light Up Our World. Each classroom used a candle or torch to light up their room. Our school librarian Mrs Welling invited parents to read to students in their home language. KI experienced four books, read by parents in four different languages.
First we heard a Vietnamese story about a girl who ate a very hot chilli. Then we heard a wonderful story in Arabic, about African animals and the fruits they like to eat. Next, we listened to the story 'Green Eggs and Ham' by Dr Suess in English. Finally, we heard a short story in the Romanian language.

KI enjoyed listening to the different stories read in different languages. Some students understood the stories read in Arabic and Vietnamese. It was a great opportunity to be exposed to different languages and even learn some new words!
