CGHS Credit Recovery Program
Has your teen failed a previous course with a grade between 50-69%? If so, consider the CGHS Credit Recovery Program, an online computer course through Georgia Virtual Recovery. The purpose of credit recovery is to provide high school students an opportunity to recover credit for selected courses previously attempted and failed with a grade between a 50-69%.
- To qualify for credit recovery a student must have received a grade of a 50 – 69%.
- Credit recovery is NOT NCAA eligible.
- Credit Recovery courses DO NOT replace the previous class grade
- Students can only take ONE credit recovery course at a time.
- Parents will be contacted by the student’s counselor when credit has been earned.
- Credit recovery is completed by the student on their OWN time and students must complete the course within the time frame.
- Once you register, the student will receive an email with further instructions through their G-Suite account.
Click the link for additional information, including registration deadlines, courses offered, and contact information for questions. For the 2023-24 school year, credit recovery must be done in- person. 2023-24 Spring Credit Recovery Opportunities

General Attendance Information
Tardies and absences for any reason can affect your child's academic performance and grades.
- Require your child to be in all classes daily and on time.
- Try to schedule doctor appointments for after school or several on the same day to minimize absences.
- Monitor your child's attendance and grades via the Parent Portal.
What should you do if your child misses school for a valid reason?
See the CGHS Attendance Procedures below:
CGHS Attendance Procedures
- The school day begins at 7:10 AM. Students not inside the classroom at the end of the tardy bell at 7:10 AM are tardy.
- Students who are absent for two or more classes within the same day are automatically marked absent for the entire day.
Each time that a student is absent, the student/family should submit a CGHS Absence Form to the Attendance Desk upon returning to school. Calling the school or emailing will not excuse the student.
The CGHS Absence form is available at the Attendance Desk in the School of the Arts Lobby.
Click here for the electronic copy.If the reason indicated on the absence excuse form is an excused reason (illness, doctor's appointments, etc. - see form), the student's absence will be changed from "unexcused" to "excused" in our attendance system.
Students checking out early or entering school late should check out/in at the Attendance Desk.
Our attendance clerk is Alejandra Solorio. You can contact her directly at 770-279-6469. Her email is alejandra.solorio@gcpsk12.org.
