Help Stop Bullying
Bullying is a serious problem that many teens face everyday.
Problems caused by bullying...
Bullying can lead to depression, low self esteem, and even suicide. Bullying can cause people to feel bad about themselves, think lowly of themselves, or feel like they don't belong or are not wanted around. Serious depression can lead to suicidal thoughts or actions, and is a major problem with teens today. Suicide is the third largest cause of teen deaths, resulting in well over 4 thousand deaths per year. About 15% of high school students have thought about suicide, and about half of them have actually attempted it.
What you can do to help...
There are many things you can do to help out. If you see someone getting bullied, you could step in and help that person out by standing up for them, but the best thing to do in any situation is to go tell a responsible adult such as a counselor, teacher, principal, or a parent. Also, if someone that is being bullied needs someone to talk to, you could be that person. Whatever you do, don't just be a bystander, do whatever you can to help.
