Take a moment to enjoy the holiday season and join us for a family movie night. December 14th, the Title 1 department is hosting Arthur Christmas, a holiday movie the entire family will enjoy. Doors open at 5:00, movie begins at 5:30. Watch social media and your child’s backpack for more information.
Is your family spending a lot of time in the car this holiday season? Life gets busy and it is hard to keep up your reading routine. However, it is really important for your child to read on a regular basis. Try listening to an audiobook. Listening to fluent, expressive reading is a great way for your child to not only enjoy literature but become a better reader. If you have a library card there are many free options for audio books. Download the Overdrive and/or Hoopla app, plug in your library card number and you are set!
Celebrate this season with math! Make sure to take time to practice math skills, vocabulary, and facts. Do facts in the car, play store, or count the lights on the tree. Math can be incorporated into everyday fun!
Need ideas on how to help your child improve their reading or math? We would love to help you! Did you know you can get an online link to your child’s math textbook?

From the HES Office
Students will have outside recess as long as the temperature remains above 32 degrees. Please plan accordingly as you send your child to school!
A doctor's note must be provided for any student who has a medical reason to not participate in PE or recess. Please address these notes to our school nurse, who will then inform your child's teacher. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
We have worked hard to keep our traffic flow moving in both the morning and afternoon here at HES. We ask that if you need to come into the building in the morning that you pull forward out of the designated drop-off area, beyond the painted yellow curb, and then park your vehicle. This allows for traffic to continue to move down the street and provides a safe drop-off for all of our students. Thank you!
Our last day of attendance before the holiday break will be Thursday, December 21.We only have 14 more school days until Christmas break! Our first day of attendance after the holiday break will be Thursday, January 4.
The office staff at HES wishes your family a happy and safe holiday season!
