Music with Mr. Jeffrey: We will build upon our basic rhythm skills by introducing percussion instruments! We'll begin to learn about various genres of music, focusing on the origins of popular genres, and the famous artists within their respective genres.
Culture Connection with Ms. Jordan: We will be traveling back in time to Ancient Egypt to learn about pyramids, deserts, mummies, and more! We will also be making Egyptian landscape, portrait, and scarab beetle art with various classes at WDS. I can't wait to teach each class about Egyptian Art and Culture!
Art with Ms. Elizabeth: In October, we will be talking about all things spooky: black cats, skulls, pumpkins, and ghosts! There might even be some masking making. For Chapel Art, we will be working on a Navajo shepherd. Just s Jesus cares for us, a shepherd looks after his sheep.'Birdies for Charity' to benefit Westhampton Day School

Director's Blurb
It's the time of year when WDS students make their first field trip of the year to the pumpkin patch. Even our youngest students get to pick out a pumpkin from our courtyard. The definition above does not give justice to the fun that's in store! Students scamper around exploring through the pumpkins in search of just the perfect one. Invariably, several perfectly shaped, orange beauties are passed up in favor of lumpy greenish ones that catch the sparkle in a little one's eye. No matter how much adult persuasion is used, they won't turn their back on the pumpkin that is beautiful in their eyes.
How wonderful to look through the world with the eyes of a child. They see beauty in all that God has created and explore the world with an excitement that is contagious. When picking out your family pumpkin this year, look for those that may remain unloved in the patch. You may just find the perfect pumpkin!
