Fairview Falcon Family Newsletter
September 23-24
From the Principal
We have had an amazing start to the school year! On Friday morning we had our first assembly, and the energy and enthusiasm was contagious-- we are so grateful to have such an amazing group of students and staff members here at Fairview. Families, thank you for all that you've done to ensure a positive beginning to the school year. It's going to be a great one!
Now that students have begun to settle into routines, parents should let students come into the building on their own at arrival unless absolutely necessary to help them inside. If you need to meet with the teacher, please make arrangements ahead of time. We appreciate your help with this as we continue to establish our schoolwide routines and procedures.
Teachers are currently working to complete fall assessments on all students. This information will be used to make plans for small group or intervention work, as well as to monitor student progress. Follow up assessments may also be needed for some students.
Later this month, we will have our Back to School Night event. We're putting a new twist on that event this year, so be sure to read below so that you don't miss those important details.
As always, please feel to reach out to us if you have any questions, concerns, or comments about ways that we can better serve your child or your family.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tyler Simmons, Principal
Back to School Night and Family Social
On Wednesday September 20th, parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to come in for Back to School Night. At this event, adults will visit their child's classroom to learn about what will be taught this school year and how they can support student learning at home. Each classroom presentation will last about 25 minutes, and we'll cycle through 3 rotations to allow families with multiple children the chance to hear from all of their teachers. Back to School Night will conclude at 6:00.( Evening starts at 4:30 ).
Action Required-- RSVP
Our PTA hopes that families will join them for a social event immediately after Back to School Night! Pizza and bottled water will be provided from 6:00-7:30, they just need to know how many people to plan for. If you plan on coming to the Pizza Social afterwards, please RSVP here! Stop by to get to know other families that call Fairview "home!"

Monthly Update From Our Specials Teachers
From the Gym
Hello Fairview Families!
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. My name is Andy Wright and I’ll be hanging out with your kiddos on their PE days. I’m excited to get the year started! We’ll spend the first few weeks getting to know the routines of the gym and reviewing some fun activities. By now I’ve seen each class. Be sure to ask them what’s been going on. Depending on the grade level, we’ve been playing “Dogs and Squirrels”, “Critter Toss”, “Locomotor 4 Corners”, “Musical Hoop Round Up”, and “Aerobic Bowling Bingo” . With the Kindergarteners we read “The Gym Teacher From The Black Lagoon” and worked on moving safely with personal space. So far so good!
There are 2 rules for the gym—be safe and have fun. We took some time to discuss what these mean and what it looks like in the gym. Ask your kiddos what they remember!
Please check their A,B,C,D schedule and get those tennis shoes on. If they don’t have them they may not get to participate in all of the day’s activities.
Finally, if you’ve been in the gym lately you might have noticed the pictures on the bulletin boards. They are of our kiddos in action!! If you wish, send me a photo of your child doing something active and I’ll get it up on the board. You’re welcome to send in a hard copy pic or email me one and I’ll get it up!
Thank you for your support and all the best to a great year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wright

We are starting to discuss and explore Non-Objective Art in class. Ask your artist about what they are creating! Please feel free to e-mail me anytime lrobb@cpsk12.org
