Illinois Assessment of Readiness

Lincoln Bulletin

Well, this week has been filled with many interesting circumstances. As we started the week, we had our time change due to daylight savings time, classes participated in our Mock IAR testing on Wednesday to ensure our system, staff and students are ready in grades 3-5.

Yesterday, there was new information regarding the precautions our district is taking with COVID-19, please reference the emails that were sent from the district office. More information will be coming regarding updates and processes. As we receive new information, we will send it to you as soon as we can. These are precautionary measures to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Below I have attached some guidelines shared with me from Carol Smith regarding how to discuss this with our children.

These are unprecedented times. We request your flexibility, patience, and understanding as we work through this situation together.

This message is a reminder to elementary school families that the Intra-District transfer window for the 2020-2021 school year opens on April 7 at 8:00 a.m.

For the 2020-2021 school year, ALL elementary students have been assigned to their attendance area school by the District. This includes elementary students currently attending a school on an intra-district transfer.

An Intra-District Transfer Request must be submitted online no sooner than 8:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday following spring break (April 7, 2020) and no later than 4:00 p.m. on the third Monday following (April 20). A link to the request form will be posted on the District 303 web page ( by 8:00 a.m. on April 7.

If you are requesting a transfer for more than one child, a separate request must be submitted for each. Due to fluctuating class sizes at schools and each grade level, siblings are not guaranteed placement. If granted, transportation is the responsibility of the parents.

If you have questions about the process, please call the District office at 331.228.2000.

Grades 3-5: Looking Ahead to IAR Testing

We will begin testing for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness on Tuesday, April 7th. Students will take a series of 5 tests (2 ELA and 3 Math). The testing window at Lincoln will last about 2 weeks. Please avoid scheduling vacations, appointments, etc. during these weeks. If you are trying to schedule something and would like to know if your child is testing at that time, please call Mrs. Fick in the office.

Dear Lincoln Families,

The health and safety of our students is our top priority, so we want to share with you information that the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has published for schools throughout the state.

The good news at this time is that the health risk to the general public from Coronavirus (COVID-19) remains low. Currently, the IDPH recommends schools hold classes and events as usual and follow routine cleaning and disinfecting procedures; no special measures are necessary.

The IDPH also recommends the best way to protect against Coronavirus is by taking the same everyday precautions against getting sick in general. These include:

  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.

  • Staying home when you are sick.

  • Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.

To see the complete recommendations to schools from IDPH, please click here. We will continue to closely monitor recommendations regarding Coronavirus and will update you if there are any significant changes in recommendations for schools.

Thank you for your support in helping to keep our school community healthy.

Do you have a child or know someone in your neighborhood with a child who will be 5 years of age ON or BEFORE September 1, 2020? We are already planning for next year's kindergarten.

Kindergarten registration has begun! Listed below is a link to D303’s registration page which includes all of the paperwork needed for registration. Feel free to print these forms off ahead of time and bring them in with you when you register your student as it will help your registration process go more smoothly.

This is noted on the Verification of Residency and Enrollment form which explains what kind of documentation is needed to be brought in for registration. Also be sure to bring an original birth certificate during this process.

Please spread the word to your neighbors and friends!

Parent feedback wanted

This year, our building was fortunate to receive a grant from Project Lead The Way and the Bemis Corporation to support our Project Lead the Way program in grades K-5. Included as part of the grant reporting process is a parent survey. Please take a moment to complete the survey. Responses are anonymous and information gathered from the survey will help to provide feedback to Project Lead the Way as they plan for the future.

The Dentist is Coming to Lincoln!

Great News! Lincoln has partnered with Smile Programs...the mobile dentists, to offer in-school dental care right here at Lincoln during the school day.

Even better, dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including Medicaid and CHIP. For those without insurance, a low-cost self-pay option is available.

Forms were sent home last week. I've got more available in the Lincoln Health Office or sign your child up today at Permission slips due now.
