January 2023 MISD Connect Newsletter
Welcome to the Midlothian ISD 2022-23 Monthly Newsletter. Midlothian ISD will send a monthly newsletter during the 2022-23 school year. This newsletter will come to you during the first week of each month. Campuses send out a weekly newsletter and will have district news in their email.

School Board Appreciation Month
The entire month of January, the district celebrates School Board Appreciation Month. Midlothian ISD is fortunate to have a Board of Trustees dedicated to consistently doing what is best for the students of the district. Our Board consists of Board President Tami Tobey; Board Vice President Gary Vineyard; Board Secretary Eduardo Gonzalez; and Board members Mike Dillow, Richard Pena, Holly Teague, and Jessica Ward. All of our MISD Board members are committed to working together alongside district leadership to do what is best for MISD students and staff.
Dance Clinic
The Heritage Belles and Rubies would love to have students in grades kindergarten through eight participate in a dance clinic on January 31, 2023, with a performance at Heritage High School on February 3, 2023, during halftime of the home varsity basketball game.
Clear Bag Guidelines
As you attend athletic events this year and events held in the auditorium, you will need to know the guidelines for clear bags. See the flyer below for more specifics or visit our website.
When to Use HEAR IT. SEE IT. STOP IT.
There are two great ways to report bullying and safety and security issues. One way is to contact campus administration directly and let them know the issue so they can fully investigate the matter. If you need to remain anonymous, then you can use the See IT Hear IT Stop IT tool available to staff, students, and families. This is also a great tool to use if it is after hours and you cannot contact an administrator directly. MISD encourages you to speak to an administrator whenever possible when there is a threat to student or staff safety or security.

MISD Visitor Procedures
MISD prioritizes the safety and security of our staff and students. We ask our MISD visitors to help us in the effort to keep kids as safe as possible. MISD appreciates your patience as we follow these procedures. To learn more about campus security and visitor guidelines, visit https://bit.ly/3QqqQzl.
Free and Reduced Meals
Schools now must transition back to requiring family applications for free and reduced-price meals to meet USDA requirements. Families are encouraged to complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals and return the completed form to their campus. You can access the form to print by clicking here or you can apply online by clicking here. Visit our nutrition site to learn more about this program. (Spanish)
