Eugene Field Elementary School
December 28, 2015
Dear Field Families,
Greetings from Colorado where today's low is 1! (Brrrr!) I am visiting with family and enjoying the snow. I hope you all are enjoying your holidays too.
School starts on Monday, January 4. I have heard there is some confusion about this. The initial calendar published last year had Jan. 4 as a pupil-free day. This pupil-free day was moved to the beginning of this year which is why our start date was delayed by one day. We have been spreading this message. I hope you received it and that we will see you on Monday.
PUSD Open Enrollment applications will be accepted starting January 12, 2016. Kindergarten through fourth grade students returning to Field ES next year, do not need to apply through Open Enrollment. If you live outside of PUSD boundaries, you will need to renew your permit to leave your home district and enter PUSD before the end of the school year.
We will be open for parking for the Rose Parade Float Viewing on January 1 - 3, 2016. This is our annual 5th grade fundraising event and if you or your friends are planning to check out the floats, please spread the word.
On January 5, our fourth and fifth grade students will have a special guest speaker-- Patrick Carman, author of Floors and other multimedia book series' for young readers. He will speak on his new book Voyagers, which is one part of six-part multi-platform book series. We are very excited to bring him to our campus through our partnership with Vroman's Bookstore.
Happy New Year!

Not interested in seeing the Rose Parade floats but still want to help the 5th grade fundraising efforts? Donations needed.
It is true that we still need volunteers to help with parking, but if you can't donate time and you are interested in helping, we do welcome donations of hot chocolate packets, water, cups, and napkins. The kids will be selling snacks in front of the school to all of the parade fans. You can drop off any donations on Dec. 29 and 30 before 2:00 at the school with Mr. Eubanks or on Jan. 1 and 2 at the school front driveway.
Thank you for your help!
