Tēnā koutou katoa
Ngā mihi nui, kia koutou katoa - Warm greetings to you all.
Here we are at the end of Term 1 2022. Throughout the term we have worked hard to keep up with normal school routines which included lots of learning and fun times, despite significant absences for both students and staff. We are very much looking forward to term 2 where we hope that we can welcome back all of our students.
Please note the Learning Conferences dates 18th and 19th May. This will be an opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher to discuss their learning so far this year and set goals moving forward.
Covid data to date:
I am pleased to report that last week we only had six additional Covid cases across the whole school and averaged 89% attendance across the week. This is very close to normal attendance for this time of year.
Total cases staff and students for Term 1 = 135
We have RAT tests available to distribute to our school community. If your child is sent home unwell we can provide a box of five tests for the family. If you would like a RAT test box please enquire at the office (they are free).
When writing this - we are still in the red traffic light setting. If we move to the orange setting over the holidays, I will be in touch to notify parents of any changes to our routines or procedures.
Uniform:
We are experiencing some supply delays for our next order of school uniform stock. We do have most uniform items available, however there is chance we may sell out of small sized polos (size 5/6). The new stock is expected early June. If we do not have stock, then your child can to wear an alternative in the meantime.
Next term we move into the winter uniform. The significant change from summer uniform is that students are allowed to wear plain navy tracksuit pants or plain navy leggings. Please ensure there is no writing or logos on these. We do not sell tracksuit pants or leggings via the office as there are several local shops that stock these items at a very reasonable price.

.
A huge thank you to our Tauranga Primary School whānau for your support this term, it has been challenging to navigate the last few months in terms of our Covid response. We do appreciate how our school community has responded with kindness to staff absences, event cancellations and postponements throughout the term.
Have a wonderful Easter break with your children. We look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday the 2nd May to start Term 2.

He Waka Eke Noa Pathway
Currently we are working on creating our HE WAKA EKE NOA (we are all in this together) pathway. All the children have read the story Only One You by Linda Kranz and are now completing the painting of a garden stone to represent themselves in our pathway.
A big TPS THANK YOU to the Rock Shop in Greerton who have supplied the garden stones for our pathway.
Early in Term 2 we will be setting up the path (digging out and boxing up) to lay concrete for the 450 river stones to be set in. If you or your business have any skills or expertise related to the construction of the pathway that could help us out - please let me or Arlette Goodhue know agoodhue@tauranga.school.nz

Board of Trustees - election year
TPS Board of Trustees (BOT)
This year is a Board of Trustees election year with elections being held in September. Some of our current board will not be standing for election as their children will be leaving or have now left TPS. If becoming involved in the governance of your child(ren)'s school is of interest to you, please talk with me or Aaron Moores (board chair) Aaron.Moores@craigsip.com. We are happy to talk through what the role involves. Later in the year we will host a meet and greet option where you can talk with current trustees, you are also welcome to attend a BOT meeting.
Some broad information can also be found here.

All are welcome, come and meet others who also have children who attend TPS. Dates will be advertised early next term.
