NPE Rocket News
From the Principal
Please make sure your child's coats and jackets have their name inside it. We have lots of jackets in our lost and found with no name.
Make sure that you are using the crosswalk during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. If you are picking up from the 3rd grade door, you need to walk down to the crosswalk. We want to ensure that everyone makes it safely across the driveway.
Please be on the lookout for ways to support PTA with our School Fair. We are needing donations for our class baskets. Information about volunteering at class booths will also be coming home soon. We need your help and support to make our fair a success. This is the biggest fundraiser our PTA does and it generates a lot of money that directly benefits your student.

Dreambox K-2
Dreambox
CCISD has purchased a new online math program for Kindergarten - 2nd grade students called DreamBox Learning. DreamBox is adaptive software that modifies problems in response to student performance so that the student is challenged at just the right level. This program can be used on any computer or iPad. Each K-2 student has an individual login so that his/her progress can be tracked.
We encourage you to let your child use this program at home. It is a fun way to learn math at a level that suits your student's needs. It is essential that your child work the problems on his or her own. Mistakes help the program to adapt to your child's level. If you find the answers for them, then the software is adapting to YOUR needs, not your child's! To access Dreambox on your computer at home, just go to this web address: http://bit.ly/dbnpe, If using an iPad, download the green Dreambox app for free and enter this school code: gq6s/k8av. Your child logs in with his/her CCISD student ID as both the username and password. For questions, please get in touch with your child's teacher. Pleasant Dreamboxing!

Super Kids-Super Sharing
Please support our Service Learning Project
Local public and private schools can sign up now to participate in a Super Bowl community service project that puts books, sports equipment, school supplies and games into the hands of Houston area children in need.
The National Football League is teaming up with local schools and with the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee, the Houston Texans, the Houston Texans YMCA and Verizon for this year’s Super Kids-Super Sharing project. NPE will be collecting books, sports equipment, school supplies and games from January 4th to January 18th.
As part of Super Kids-Super Sharing, used cell phones will be collected for the HopeLine® from Verizon program which collects used wireless phones and accessories and turns them into support for domestic violence organizations. The NFL provides posters, instructions and other materials that make the Super Kids project easy to implement.”

For students in 3rd - 5th grade: Don't forget that the deadline to read and respond to at least 5 of the Texas Bluebonnets is fast approaching! You can respond in your reader's notebook or in a book report to your teacher, OR you can submit a quick response online from the library home page (as shown in our library lessons.) The deadline for responding is Friday, January 27, 2017 and we will vote on Monday afternoon (1-30-17) at 2:15 - 3:00.
Birthday Book Club
Give your child a gift that lasts forever and one that other children can enjoy also! Once again, we would like to give you the opportunity to honor your child’s birthday (or other special occasion) by donating a book to the North Pointe Library. It is fun for your child and helps many other children as well.
Here’s how it works:
¨ Give a gift of $25, or more (cash or a check payable to North Pointe Elementary.) See Mrs. May or the display board by the office for a form.
¨ On your child’s special day (or as close as possible to that day) your child’s name will be announced during the morning announcements. (Summer birthdays will be called toward the end of May with August birthdays being called in August/ September.)
¨ Your child will come to the library to choose his / her birthday book, a stuffed “library friend” to care for during that school day, a treat from the treasure box, and will have their picture taken to be displayed.
¨ A bookplate will be placed in the front of the chosen book honoring your child’s special day, and your child will be the first one to check out that special book.
· You will get to keep the birthday photo at the end of the semester.
