Assignment Creation Features
Collected Type
Schoology has added an option to choose how you want assignments to be calculated; it's called "Collected Type." Teachers will find this option below the "Sync to SIS" option when creating an assignment.
This option allows teachers to decide if an assignment should be calculated as one normally would or not at the assignment creation level. It provides teachers the option to disable the ability to add a traditional score (letter or number) to the assignment. When looking at the assignment in the gradebook, teachers will be able to add an exception flag (see below) but not an actual grade. This might be useful for tracking syllabus agreements, field trip forms, or practice items.

Collected Type Information
The "Collected Type" box allows the teacher to disable traditional scoring. A teacher will be able to use an exception flag, but not be able to input a letter or number grade.
Collected Box Checked
From the Gradebook view, text below the assignment title reads "Code Override" to indicate that traditional scoring has been disabled.
Grade Enabled and Disabled
Teachers can mark assignments as ones to be graded traditionally, with letter or number grades, or disable that features. If an assignment is marked as "Grade Disabled," it will not be computed into the student's final grade. This might be a nice option for practice work or pre-assessments done through the Assignments option.
Note: If a teacher is using Grade Passback, the assignment can sync to IC, but does so without flags and has contains blank cells.
Grade Enabled
Teachers can find the "Grade Enabled" option toward the bottom of the Assignment creation window.
Grade Disabled
What a teacher will see after selecting the Grade Disabled option.

New Exception Flags
Schoology has added some new Exception flags for the gradebook. Those new options are: Absent, Collected, and Late. The exception flags are added through the gradebook.
Some notes about the exception flags:
- Absent, Exempt, Incomplete, and Late are not calculated into the student's grade in Schoology.
- Absent, Late, Collected, Exempt, and Incomplete serve as reminders to teachers regarding the status of that assignment.
- Exempt, Missing, and Collected exception flags remove the item from the student's Overdue notifications.
- Students will see these exception flags in their gradebook view.
Grade Passback Implications:
Schoology and Infinite Campus are different companies and do not always handle exception flags in the same manner. Additionally, not all flags sync to IC with their intended purpose ... yet. Here is how flags currently sync from Schoology to IC:
- Absent - syncs as a 0
- Collected - syncs as a 0
- Exempt - syncs as excused with the IC excused flag
- Incomplete - syncs as a blank
- Missing - syncs as a 0 with the IC missing flag
- Late - syncs as a 0 with no IC flag
