Welcome Back Aspen Middle School Students and Families
We feel lucky to be part of Aspen Middle School and have been learning lots about the students, staff and community in the last two weeks. Amazing opportunities are in store for our students across the district.
Many exciting curriculum changes are in place for the 2021-2022 school year. Our curriculum adoptions have impacted our schedule and we are grateful for our staff and students’ flexibility and support as we’ve worked out some kinks over the last week. Along with our curriculum and schedule changes, we are entering our first year of the International Baccalaureate Program.
Curriculum Updates Include:
- Math 5th - 8th Grade: Illustrative Math, 60 minutes of daily instruction
- Language Arts 5th Grade: Wit and Wisdom, 90 minutes of daily instruction
- Language Arts 6th-8th Grade: American Reading Company, 90 minutes of daily instruction
SKIER Traits: Self, Kindness, Integrity, Effort, and Respect
As we embark on a new school year, our staff and students are engaging in AMS school-wide behavior expectations, reviewing cafeteria behavioral norms, safe recess play, hallway and classroom routines. Students are expected to to walk in the halls, keeping their hands to themselves, and safely use the stairways and entranceways when entering or exiting the building.
Healthy student interactions and creating a sense of community, one in which students look out for each other and take pride in their school and their classmates, is of TOP priority at AMS. This is super important for a healthy school environment, and we hope you will join us in this effort.
