Healesville Primary School
Week 2- Thursday 6 February 2020
From the Principal's Desk…
Hello Parents and Friends,
It has been a great start to the year with all students from Grades Prep - 6 settling in extremely well to their new classrooms.
Prep Information Afternoon:
Our Prep teachers, Sharyn Borg and Georgia Horsley would like to invite all of our prep parents to an information afternoon on Tuesday 11th February from 3:30 – 4:00pm. This will be an opportunity to learn more about our prep program and the learning goals for your child for 2020.
Grade 1 – 6 Getting to know you meetings:
Staff will be holding Getting to Know You meetings on Tuesday 11th February. This information is already on the portal, make sure you request a time to meet with your child’s teacher. These sessions provide staff with valuable information that only you know about your child. It is a great opportunity to have a face to face chat about what you are hoping for this year with your child and to set some long term goals with the teacher.
Parents as Helpers:
On Wednesday 19th February I will be holding a Parent Helpers session in the Library for parents, grandparents and carers who would like to work in the classrooms this year. We will go through strategies to use when working with students on reading or in small groups. To work in our classrooms you need to attend this session as well as have a current working with children certificate. I hope to see lots of you there as I know the teachers as well as myself value your input and assistance.
Emergency Contact and Medical Information:
Many things change over such a long holiday period. Please let the office know if you have any new contact details. It is very important that we have up to date details should we need to contact you for any reason. If you are not sure if we have the correct information – please come in and check.
Kelly Laidlaw our P.E. teacher has been very busy organising students and teachers for the upcoming swimming carnival. This will be held next Tuesday 11th February at the Healesville Outdoor Pool. Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch to share with your child. Please come along and cheer on your child and their friends. We would love to see you there. There will be more information regarding this on the portal.
School Council Elections:
School Council Elections In the coming weeks all families will receive information about the possibility of nominating for our School Council. Participation in the School Council is open to all parents and members of the community. Membership of the School Council provides a great opportunity to be a part of future school directions and to assist in providing the best possible learning opportunities for our students. If you would like further information about School Council and its processes please do not hesitate to contact me.
Our annual general meeting will be held on February 25th at 2.30pm in the staffroom. I warmly invite all parents, friends and community members to attend the meeting and become involved in PACH. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be served. This is a great way to make friends, contribute to the school community and raise funds for special projects across the school.

Welcome to the new school year!
A very warm welcome to everyone, and a special welcome to families new to the school and our program.
At Camp Australia, we provide an engaging and supportive outside of school hours space for children to play, connect, learn and grow. We work together with your school community to deliver a tailored program that is designed to bring out the very best in each individual child. Creating a unique place where children can practice real-life skills in a fun, exciting environment that challenges them to succeed. In our sessions, children will be provided with a healthy snack while given time to relax, socialise with friends and learn some life skills along the way. Come to the OSHC room to meet the friendly team and discover how we can help your family.
It’s FREE to Register.
