A Look Ahead: Kindergarten and 1st grade will explore the concepts of shapes in dance. 2nd grade will finish their treasure maps and create a dance inspired by it. 3rd Grade will jump right into their jazz unit by exploring when, where, and what jazz dance is. 4th grade and 5th grade will learn and explore new dance vocabulary and use it to create movements.
Highlights from Last Week: This past week we had special guests in dance during 2B's class time. They were filmed by the district for an up coming film about the importance of the Arts.
Reminders: Please remember if your child has dance to wear clothing that is great for moving while still keeping in mind the NCCAE dress code.
We are having a great year in dance so far and can't wait to keep it going!! Mrs. Majewski
Drama
Welcome to Drama Class with Mx. Flannery at NCCAE!
Highlights from Last Week: Last unit was "Working with Other Drama Students." Ask your child what they learned about how to cooperate and collaborate with others.
Reminders: Ask your child what they can do to earn an owl buck and help the class receive a star to earn 21 Stars for a class party. Bring a photo of yourself or of you and your family for the Drama Class wall.
General Music
This week our students will be introduced to the wonderful world of rhythm. Here they will learn what rhythm is, how it works, and how to compose some rhythms of their own!
Highlights from Last Week: How We Use our Voice, Tempos, and Note Names
Kindergarten learned all the ways we can use our voice: Whisper, Talk, Shout and Sing! Our 1st and 2nd Graders were introduced to the concept of tempos, fast and slow! Finally, our 3rd - 5th Graders learned all of the note names and where they live on our treble clef staff! What was your students favorite activity?
Reminders: Continue to encourage students to work towards classroom goals and rewards.
Visual Art
Highlights from Last Week: combine scupltures, gallery walk, drawing faces
Reminders: Please remind students to wear the t-shirts and smocks that we have available to protect their clothing with messy projects. Most materials will wash out of most fabrics, but there are exceptions.
