The Post Superbowl let down

The post Superbowl let down is reality for most Americans. I would say this syndrome is even more acute in educators in MISD because we have a LONG stretch until Spring Break. What can help you battle this syndrome? I am glad you asked. Mix up what you do in your classroom; changing or assigning seats, co-teaching a lesson with a teammate, moving your class to a flex space, going paper free for a week, the list goes on and on. Remember students react to our mood and attitudes. Have a great week!

The McKinney High School

We are the original, the beacon, the bridge between the past and the future for the city of McKinney.

Did you Know

McKinney High School's own Tommy Crutcher played linebacker in Super Bowl I & II for the Green Bay Packers. MHS was recently recognized by the NFL as part of the National Football League's High School Honor Roll because of Tommy Crutcher's participation in these two Super Bowls. Please stop by the display case to see the 50th Super Bowl Anniversary Football.

MHS Teacher Events

National Honor Society

Invitations have been given to all sophomores and juniors who qualify for membership in the McKinney High School chapter of National Honor Society. In an effort to be respectful of your time and avoid a lengthy National Honor Society recommendation letter from you, a Google form has been made. The form should make the recommendation letter process quick and easy. The comment box provided on the form is for short and to the point comments.

"When in Doubt, Throw the Out" Golf Tournament

You are invited to attend the Billy Whitman Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament on Saturday, March 16th at the Woodbridge Golf Club.

“Whit” was a 39-year football coaching veteran who was one of the finest and most respected coaches in the state of Texas. Coach Whitman coached football with and against some of the greatest coaches in the state, finishing out his career as an assistant at McKinney High School from 1992-1999 and then as the offensive coordinator at Wylie High School from 2000-2005. Coach Whitman, most notably known as the “Ultimate Football Coach,” is remembered for his offensive tactics, his way with kids and his love of life and the game. Endowment scholarships are being established through the Wylie ISD and McKinney ISD educational foundations to remember Coach Whitman’s passion for kids and to allow his name to carry on his gift for many years to come. Wylie ISD endowed a $10,000 scholarship on January 23, 2009, and McKinney ISD endowed a $20,000 scholarship. With the funds generated from this tournament, an annual scholarship will be awarded to one student from McKinney High School and one student from Wylie High School.
