Safety Drills
This week we held our first fire drill. Our students learned what the safety plan and procedures are to keep safe. All schools in the Park Hill School District follow specific procedures to ensure the safety of students and staff in the event of an emergency. All schools have emergency plans in place. Each year we conduct 10 fire drills (one each month), one earthquake drill, two tornado drills, and two intruder drills. Our staff has been trained on these drills, and we will discuss emergency procedures for all drills in the classrooms during the first days of school. Please know that each teacher will approach their class discussions with care and consideration of all students.
Picture and Image Opt-Out
Throughout the school year, the district or school might take pictures or videos of special events or programs to be covered by the newspaper or television stations including Park Hill TV. Images and pictures may also be posted on the Park Hill or Tiffany Ridge website or Facebook pages. If you do not want your child’s image or information used for these purposes, please request and fill out an “opt out” form with the school office.

Back into Routines!
Are your students struggling to get back into the swing of things after summer OR after being an online learner for over a year? A new Morning or Bedtime Routine could help! Research has shown that kids thrive on dependable routines – when they know the same thing happens each day. The new school year is the perfect time to set up a routine to help things go more smoothly at home and set your student up for success during the day. Here are some quick tips to help you out:
- Discuss with your student what their morning, bedtime and getting to school routines will look like. Clear expectations help limit surprises or meltdowns.
- Set times for ending ‘play’ and starting on the routine. If play time ends at 8pm set an alarm on your phone for 7:55 and give a 5 minute warning signal.
- Posting visuals with times and clear steps can help them increase their independence while completing their morning or bedtime tasks. (see Visual example Below)
- Praise them for steps completed. This will not only build their self-confidence but help to reinforce the positive behavior.
