Moving Along With Mrs. Maddox

Dear Jaguar Families,

This week our celebration of our Catholic school has been so much fun! The kids have loved the daily raffle and all the special activities have helped to spice up our "Cabin Fever". Our school is so special, its been fun to have some of our favorite CSW traditions.

People ask me all the time what is the difference between a Catholic school and a public school. Honestly, all schools value many of the same things. All schools want to help children maximize their potential, but in a Catholic school, our world view is very different. We are not just preparing your child for the next level of academic rigor, our scope and sequence includes heaven.

Thank you so much for choosing St. Joseph Catholic School. At St. Joseph, we believe working with your child is a privilege. Helping to mold and nurture our students' mind, body and soul is not just our job, it’s our ministry. St. John Bosco said, "Education is a thing of the heart. During childhood and adolescence, a student needs to experience personal relations with outstanding educators, what is taught has greater influence on the student's formation when placed in a context of personal involvement, genuine reciprocity, coherence of attitudes, lifestyle, and day-to-day behavior." When you enroll your child at St. Joseph, you are not just getting a school, you are joining a faith-filled circle of individuals dedicated to Believing in Christ, Living out the Virtues, and Enlivening our entire community.

Happy Catholic Schools Week!!!

Please Bring An Extra Sack Lunch for the Food Kitchen February 16

We had such a good response last time helping the Food Kitchen. We are again asking each school family to contribute a sack lunch containing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit, a bag of chips and cookies or bars. Students can drop off the sack lunch at the front desk as they come in to school on Tuesday, February 16. The need continues to be greater than ever this year. Thank you for your generosity! Remember to jot this on your calendar-it will be after our long weekend!

Loving with Justice

Justice is often represented by a scale because it helps us weigh what is right and fair and to act accordingly. In ancient times, people thought that ideal justice was blind, blind to influence or flattery. Christian justice sees with the eyes of the heart, animated and motivated by charity.

Valentine Parties

This year we will celebrate St. Valentine on February 10th. Each cohort may organize one goodie bag per student to be sent to school on or before February 8th. Teachers will organize activities for each classroom to begin at 2:30 pm. Unfortunately, this year students will not be allowed to exchange individual Valentines. The good news is the goodie bags have been a big hit, and just keep getting more and more clever each holiday!!! Thank you to all of our very creative parents!

Just a reminder

Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL Thursday, February 11 (prearranged Parent-Teacher ZOOM Conferences, Friday, February 12 (Teacher In-service) and Monday, February 15 (Presidents’ Day).

Conferences February 11, 2021

To help keep our teachers healthy, and to minimize risk, we will be doing conferences via Zoom this Quarter. Conferences will be on February 11th from 3:30 - 8:00. Conferences are optional, and will be by appointment only. Teachers will be organizing their own conferences and will contact you directly via school email with more information. Because our teachers are eligible for the vaccination, our goal is to keep everybody healthy, so they are able to receive the vaccination when it’s their turn!

Travel Protocol

As you prepare for Spring Break please note the possible need to quarantine if you plan on traveling. KDHE has listed states as well as events that might put travelers at a greater risk for contracting COVID. Click here for more information:

If you plan on traveling outside of the United States, the CDC has listed countries with travel advisories based on their current level of positive COVID cases. That information is listed on this link:

In an effort to keep both students and staff safe, we will be requiring those traveling to places with elevated COVID rates, to quarantine upon their return home. Please contact me with any questions.

St. Joseph Pandemic Prayer

St. Joseph Pandemic Prayer for Healing and Guidance 2020-2021

Good and Gracious Lord, You have led us through difficult times before and continuously guide us with your wisdom and dignity. Be our navigator as we encompass new and frightening paths. There is much strife and anxiety when it comes to the unknown. Please continue to be our safeguard and our comfort. Help all of us discover, acknowledge, and honor your blessings during these times of uncertainty. Walk with us this school year. In Your name we pray, Amen.
