M.M.S. News & Notes
October 1, 2021
From the Principal
M.M.S. Parents and Guardians,
Greetings! I am hopeful you all had a great week. Things are going very well and at a fast pace at M.M.S. Believe it or not, this week marks the halfway point of the 1st marking period. If you have not already, please take a few minutes to sit with your child and review his/her grades in Sapphire. We do not want to any student to be falling behind this time of the year and it also presents an ideal opportunity to celebrate some early success your child has achieved.
There are several updates I wanted to communicate along with some important dates and reminders. Please enjoy your weekend and showing your support for M.M.S. Take care.

6th Grade JA Biztown Mock Interviews
In preparation for the JA Biztown trips in November, 6th graders will be participating in mock interviews on Tuesday, October 12th through Thursday, October 14th. Students have searched the classified ads for Biztown jobs and completed applications as part of this process. In addition, classes have reviewed the interview process and the Do’s and Don’ts of a good interview. Students were given their interview day and time in Computer class. This is a very exciting time in 6th grade!
M.M.S. Advisory Program - P.A.S.S
What is PASS?
PASS is Mechanicsburg Middle School’s Advisory Program. PASS stands for: PERSONAL, ACADEMIC and SOCIAL SUCCESS!
What is an advisory?
An Advisory is a program designed to recognize the unique physical, academic, emotional, and social needs of middle level students. The program provides activities that allows every student to be involved and feel connected. This year, our PASS program will be held twice a month at the middle school, with activities connected with our CATS code. Our CATS code focuses on: Character, Critical and Creative Thinking, Communication and Collaboration and Citizenship.
MASD HEALTH & SAFETY PLAN
This year our school will be receiving Title 1 Funds to support Reading instruction. Title I provides Federal financial assistance to schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
Please review this letter to learn about your right, under Title 1, to request information about the qualifications of the classroom staff working with your child. Information about Title 1 can also be found on our school website.
