What Happened?
- Four men had admitted to taking bets for Rose or being aware of them
- MLB launched a 225 page report with phone records and testimonies claiming Rose placed bets on baseball and the Reds
- 40 witnesses testified for the report and Rose testified for 2 days
Banned from the Game
- On Aug. 24 1989, Pete got placed on the permanently ineligible list
- He was banned from the Hall of Fame
- The following year Rose spent 5 months in jail and was fined 50,000 for filing false income tax returns
- He finally admitted to betting in 2002 and did not give a public apology until 2010 where he got very emotional for "disrespecting the game"
