App of the Month Challenge
LMES - September/October
Are you up for a challenge?
- For each month, review and implement one or more of the chosen apps with your students. You may do all three or just stick to the content area with which you most often work.
- Plan and/or collab with Stacie Taylor if you need some help!
- Fill out the Google Form (link below) to serve as a "review" of the app. Explain how you used it, what went well, what didn't go so well, would you use again, etc.
- Submit the Google Form by the end of the month.
- To earn 20 PD points, complete these steps for each month (September-May). Partial points cannot be awarded.
Register for this session to earn PD points!
Steps to register:
- Log in to the PD Registration System
- Click on Add Course
- Scroll down to Ongoing Development Opportunities
- Click on the drop down menu to sort the audience.
- Choose LMES and then Show Audience Sort
- Select the third option (App of the Month Challenge) and then Add Course
September Apps
(Click on each app below for a description from iTunes!)
- Read here for more information on the app and how to change the settings.
Graphic Organizers (for any subject) - Popplet
- Popplet is one of my favs because it's so versatile and can be used for almost anything.
- Click here to see many different uses for this fabulous app.
Creativity - Quick Voice, Skitch, Videolicious, Tellagami
October Apps
(Click on each app below for a description from iTunes!)
- When students are using this app and time runs out, instruct them to take a screenshot of their progress to help you better monitor their progress. Students can import that picture into an app such as Skitch or Doodle Buddy to add their name and then save to the camera roll.
- To take a screenshot: Press power button and home button at the same time. The screen will blink and/or make a camera sound. That screenshot will be saved to the camera roll.
Drawing (for any subject) - Doodle Buddy
- Ideas here
Other - Nearpod
- Nearpod Website - Watch the video and create an account. This app is cumbersome, but has a lot of potential for engagement, assessment and feedback. If you're interested in exploring this one in more depth, please let Stacie Taylor know. I'd love to model a lesson for you and/or help find and create lessons with you.
