Principal's News
Hello Neidig Families,
Wow ... Next week beings us to the month of May. You know what they say... Time flies when you are having fun! Neidig students are having fun, and they are learning a lot!
Please be sure to reference the Upcoming Events section above so you are aware of all of the events occurring at Neidig. This is a fun time of year, and it is also a very busy time of year. Being Proactive and making a plan for this busy schedule will help you and your children embrace and enjoy the celebrations as we approach the end of the school year.
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 completed the English Language Arts and Math PSSA Testing. Students in fourth grade only will also complete the Science PSSA testing on May 2 and May 3. These assessments represent one way for students to demonstrate their learning. Students also demonstrate their learning in many other ways throughout the school year.
I am proud of all of our students for their academic, social, and emotional growth this year. Our Leader in Me (LIM) process has been successful so far. We continue to encourage families to utilize the LIM resources on the Neidig website so you can continue these discussions at home. Learning about the 7 Habits and reinforcing the vocabulary associated with the LIM process makes a significant difference in our students' lives, as well as in our own lives. We look forward to continuing this learning journey with you!
Thank you,
Scott D. Godshalk
Leaders of the Month!
Each month, the Neidig teaching team selects 7 students as our Leaders of the Month. One student is selected for each grade level, and the specialists also select one student. These students demonstrate leadership qualities, and fulfill the intentions of the the Neidig Promise every day. It is an honor to highlight some of the many leaders at Neidig with this recognition. Congratulations to this month's winners, pictured below!

Synergize
by Gussie Taylor
This year at Neidig Elementary, we are learning about the seven habits. These seven habits teach us how to be good leaders and friends. I think habit six, synergize, is a helpful tool in every way. At school, we work together (synergize) when we have to do science experiments, math games, reading groups, skits, and other group work. One place at school that we need to synergize more is at recess. In third grade, many kids like to play basketball. We have a lot of balls, but there are too many kids at one hoop. If we synergize, each kid will have equal turns and more fun.
At home we synergize by working together to clean the house so one person doesn’t have to do it all. If we work together, we won’t have as much trouble with siblings and life would be more peaceful. Working together is better.
“Work Together”
by Willa Taylor
Ball in the air,
How long can we
Keep it there?
Two dancers on stage,
Not in a rage.
They step together—
Two by two
Doing a pas de deux.
Go toward the net.
We’re not there yet.
Basketball team,
Pass, shoot, gleam.
Working together
Makes the weather
Better.

Kindergarten Registration Information!
DO YOU WANT YOUR FUTURE KINDERGARTEN STUDENT TO ATTEND NEIDIG?? PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
If your child will be five years of age before August 31, 2017, they are eligible to register for kindergarten. Kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year WAS HELD on Monday, March 27, 2017, Tuesday, March 28, 2017, Wednesday, March 29, 2017, and Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the District Services Center. If you missed that registration window, please contact the district office at 215-529-2000 as soon as possible.
**NEW THIS YEAR**
Due to the number of late registrations of kindergarten students in the 2016-2017 school year, there was a significant delay in finalizing our kindergarten classes and classroom placements; therefore, if you currently have a child enrolled in a Quakertown school, but have NOT registered their sibling for kindergarten by June 1st, 2017, the kindergarten student will not be guaranteed a spot in their neighborhood school for the 2017-2018 kindergarten year. Please register early to ensure that your child attends kindergarten in the same school as their siblings and neighborhood friends.
