Lil Steamer Families --
Happy New Year! With the change to the new year and changes in the weather, I think it's important to cover our drop-off and pick-up procedures to make sure we stay safe for all families.
What time are supervisors on the playground in the morning?
7:30 AM - please do not drop students off before then.
What time do buses drop students off in the morning?
It varies for a variety of reasons (weather, trains, traffic, etc.) but it is commonly between 7:30-7:50 AM.
What if there is inclement weather?
Plan for buses to be delayed to ensure safe student transportation.
Where are students allowed to be dropped off in the morning?
Along 7th Avenue south of the playground or south of RBMS while waiting for buses. Vehicles are permitted to enter the parking lot/bus lane and drop off along the sidewalk after the final bus departs.
Are we able to pull into the parking lot?
Only after the final bus has departed in the morning or afternoon.
What time do students line up to enter the building?
8:00 AM - but we provide flexibility for families on days where weather conditions are not ideal.
What time do students dismiss at the end of the day?
3:07 PM for bus students, all other students after the final bus departs (approx. 3:12 PM)
What if I have questions about drop-off or pick-up procedures?
Email Principal Hoese at jhoese@riverbendschools.net
Have a great weekend!

As we come back to school from a long break, we need to adjust to getting up early in the morning again. Sleep is so important for children. Most kids between 5 and 12 get about 9.5 hours a night, but experts agree that most need 10 or 11 hours each night. Sleep is an individual thing and some kids need more than others.
When children don't have enough hours to rest, they may feel tired or cranky, or they may be unable to think clearly. They might have a hard time following directions, or they might have more arguments with friends over something really silly. A school assignment that's normally easy may feel impossible, or they may feel clumsy playing their favorite sport. Plenty of sleep will help your children to have more happy, productive days.

3rd Grade - Mystery Science
During Mystery Science we learned how animals in the polar regions survive in the cold environments. Then we went to the LRC and Mrs. Ensinger read us a Jan Brett story about the Musk Ox.
Mrs. Panell brought her scarf to show-and-share with us. She went to Alaska a few years ago and bought this scarf made from the "fine" fur from a Musk Ox!
Then we used a variety of materials to make our own warm winter homes!

Young Students at FHS Home Events
River Bend Parents/Guardians:
We are having more and more young children who are running around during home basketball events. We have had to address students playing in the Commons and throughout the school hallways during games.
We do not want to discourage our young Steamer fans from coming to our games. For the safety of our students, athletes, and patrons; we cannot have young students running around. We gladly welcome all of our families and young children to support our high school athletes, but please make sure your child is behaving appropriately while at games. If students are found outside of the gym misbehaving, they will be told to go and sit with their parents.
Thank You and Go Steamers!
