Classical Conversations
Broken Arrow, OK Trinity Lutheran Campus
For Week 10
Dear Friends,
I am thinking about each one of you and praying for you. If you have a specific need I can be praying about please let me know.
I am enjoying getting to know each of you and your families. I love the journey that we are on together. I have a friend who does CC at home. I think she and her children are missing out on something very important, community! Doing Classical Conversations with you means I get to also do life with you. We get to encourage each other in our homeschool journey, our kids grow up together and learn from each other. As parents we grow in our knowledge of the classical model together. CC was not meant to do alone. Yes you can do it alone, but Leigh Bortins knew we would miss out on something grand, each other. Each one of you and your families are unique. You have something beautiful to add to our community.

This week, your Foundations kids will finish the memorization of the times tables up to 15 x 15. As home educators work to reclaim education, we have created many resources for reclaiming literacy and teaching kids how to read. We need to be conscious of numeracy as well, teaching kids how to understand numbers. Their repetition of these concrete math facts prepares them for the dialectic stage of math. In Challenge A and B, they will begin to understand the laws that govern math and to tackle abstract concepts like algebra. If they don’t have their math facts down, it makes algebra a longer process because they will have to struggle with the multiplication or arithmetic as well as with solving the equations. They will be dealing with two steps instead of one.
Start developing a math sense in your home by talking about math and by playing math games with your family. For ideas to get you started, check out the math games on the Classical Conversations YouTube channel.

Here is a link of good tips to get you started on how to do nature study on your own. If any of you wanted to start a nature study for our campus that would be fun to. I was part of a nature group last year with a local group of moms and my kids loved it.
