Hixson Happenings

Reflections on this week
On Tuesday, a team of Hixson staff members had the opportunity to visit about forty Hixson students' homes to thank them for being resilient learners throughout this first quarter. I simply do not have the words to express how amazing it was to connect with students in person! Although we didn't get to see every Hixson student, these visits made us even more excited to have students back in the building later on this fall. For me, these visits reinforced one of my core beliefs about education, which is the people are the school, not the brick and mortar. Even if we can't be together right now, we are still facing this challenge together as a community. The connections that we have with one another will outlast any challenge we face, and also help us get through it. Thank you to all of our amazing and resilient Hixson families!
I shared a few photos from Hixson Connections Day below. There are so many more, but I can't fit them all in this newsletter! I hope they bring you as much joy as they brought me!

Ivory Crockett Run for Webster 5K and Fun Run
The annual Ivory Crockett Run For Webster has gone virtual this year! Run one (or several) of our 5k routes around each of our schools or choose your own 5k anywhere you want!
We always have fun family activities at the run, and this year is no different! On Saturday, October 17th 1:00 pm-4:00 pm, we'll be holding scavenger hunts at all of the WG elementary schools. We hope you can join us for fun and maybe even a few special guests!
Registration for runners closes on October 17th, but you have until October 31st to complete your run.
