Read, Lead, Succeed!

Children were happy to wear their all school t-shirts this past week. The design by fourth grader Cameron T. looks wonderful on the red and white shirts. If you are interested in getting or ordering a shirt contact the school as there may be a limited number of shirts and sizes still available.

Just for fun we snapped a few pictures of children and created a short video to promote the strong message of our shirts and as a kick off to our upcoming summer reading program!

Field Day News

Field day is coming soon on June 18th! This signature event is always a great time for children and for our parent volunteers. Speaking of volunteers we need them to make this day a successful one. If you would like to be involved in the planning of field day please come to one of our planning meetings.

Meeting times! At lunch: Monday, June 8, 12:00-12:45 pm & Tuesday June 9, 12:00-12:45 pm. Afterschool: Monday June 8, 3:15-4:15.

If you would like to volunteer for field day please call the office at (978) 249-2405 or send an email to Mrs. St. Jean at

Note all field day volunteers assisting with activity stations must have a CORI on file.

Field Day Lunch:

Parents & family members can bring their own lunch and a blanket and enjoy lunch with your child or children for a picnic on the back play yard. Families who are only coming with their own lunch do not have to have a CORI done. If children do not have a family member at school he or she will be asked to stay in the café for lunch.

Let’s plan for good weather!

If it is raining we will have to cancel field day.

For more information, including a tentative schedule and list of possible activities please see the attached link.

We Are Family...Pleasant Street Celebrates Siblings!

It all started out with Principal Ellis making a simply observation of a kindergarten student, Javie, having lunch with his big brother Juan. Javie doesn't usually eat the same lunch period but he had come in late from an appointment and needed to have some lunch. Next thing you know one thing lead to another as faculty and staff began reflecting on so many children at Pleasant Street who have siblings within the school. Undoubtedly, we missed some but we sure had fun trying to capture most of them to make this video tribute.

Please enjoy this video that celebrates our sibling families that make Pleasant Street a wonderful place to grow and to learn.

Progress Monitoring with MAPS

Last week students in grades K-4 challenged themselves on their third round of the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) math assessment. MAP is a computer based, personalized assessment system that adapts to each student's learning level. Pleasant Street School and the ARRSD has begun using MAP three times per year to measure progress and growth for each individual.

Peter Pan takes center stage at Athol Royalston Middle School

Our fourth grade classes had a great time visiting ARMS on Friday, June 5th to see a showing of Peter Pan. There are many talented young performers in our schools!

Hungry, Hungry Hippos!

Principal Ellis couldn't help but take pictures and pass along this curious sight of students in Mrs. Heuer's class playing a game of Hungry, Hungry, Hippos. Our physical education teacher, Mr. Hause, adapted the table top version of this popular game and had children take turns being hippos and helpers of hippos. Everyone was pretty busy having fun and no one seemed too concerned about who "won" the game with the most collected balls.
