How It All Began
Dear Lockheed Martin,
Hello our names are Joshua Sawyer and Robby Howe. Our classmates and us are in a gifted and talented class. Our school has a large interest in the S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program. Our main focus is to start a robotics club for Shirley Hills Elementary School. We will be using all the areas in S.T.E.A.M program and attempt to convince some students down the engineering path. Our mission is to educate kids on engineering to help the shortage that this country has. In order to get the robotics club it like all things requires money. That is where we ask of your assistance. We politely ask that if you could please donate a little bit of money to our program. We understand about the sequestration that money is very tight. If you can somehow help us with this program we would be very much appreciate this. If you cannot help we also understand. We know that you enjoy the idea of children being educated in engineering.
Shirley Hills Elementary School
Students completed their first hour code using Code.Org
Students made electromagnets using magnets, nails, and wires.
The students worked on building skyscrapers with a budget of $500. The spaghetti sticks were $5.00 and the marshmallows were $10.00.
