Dragon Tales

October, here we come!!!
The A-Team will be resetting also as we all come together to see how we can support getting our basic expectations in place and tight. Please make sure you have read the campus handbook and are following expectations shared at the start of the year. As we reset, we will be looking at how you have launched your year, set up your room, implemented the three plays of our playbook, implemented CHAMPs, posted your current schedule and submitted lesson plans to the correct folder. Our goal is to get us back on track and focused on our future.
We want to thank each of you again for keeping us moving in the right direction as we overcame some new situations. Your actions, team work and positive attitudes tell us we have the right staff to move our campus forward! You are an awesome group of people!
Powerwalk Data
Please note that one of our agreed upon plays involves students talking. Yet one of our lowest areas is in seeing small group purposeful talk. I challenge you to make sure that you are providing multiple opportunities for students to talk. If you forget, you can use us walking into your room as a cue to make it happen. Remember to set expectations for students using complete sentences and academic language.
Lesson frames: We are starting to see them show up in larger fashion so everyone can see them. Posting it on a piece of regular size paper will not do. Make them bigger :) Remember that your close statement, your "I Will" must include HOW they are demonstrating mastery: talking, writing, drawing, etc. and it needs to directly connect to the focus of your "We Will."
PBIS Corner
Morning Expectations:
The teacher on duty in each hall will remain on duty, supervising the hall, until almost all of the students have finished getting breakfast. This will allow for better student supervision and enforcement of hallway expectations. At that point the teacher on duty will allow her class to get in line for breakfast.
Suggestion for students in the morning:
Students are having a difficult time remaining on a level zero for a few reasons. Please make sure you are reinforcing good behavior with Dragon Bites! If teachers would leave a basket of books or morning work with expectations for students to do, they would be occupied and have an easier time remaining on a level zero. PBIS members, it is up to you to help monitor your area to make sure teachers and students are following expectations.
Hallway expectations:
Remember that students should be walking on the right side of the hallway at all times. A level zero will support learning in the classrooms. It is up to each adult to stop any student not following expectations. Teachers, if you are walking with your class, please make sure you are expecting and enforcing these behaviors. We can't create a culture of excellence if hallway expectations are not maintained. Lets pull together and turn it around this week!!
