Explorer Awards
It's Report Card Time - 1st Trimester is nearly finished!
Start with a positive as this sets the tone for the comments section
Share an area of strength and an area of improvement
Reading level - Please identify the Reading Street level they are currently being instructed on (strategic, on-level, advanced)
Regarding the inclusion of Fountas and Pinnell on report cards, please treat this as a progress monitoring tool similar to DIBELS. It is not required to include F & P levels on student report cards. Teachers or interventionists have the discretion to include F & P growth in comments if necessary.
Be skill specific to the student; no need to share what’s coming next in the curriculum (that’s newsletter communication)
Need some refreshers for comments? Click HERE for some help!
Students not meeting behavioral or academic expectations should have a plan including parent contact. Proactively communicate with parents prior to December 14th.
Keep in mind that you are writing a legal document.
Administration has access to Realtime and can review student report cards there. There is no need to submit paper copies of report cards to the main office for review unless you have a specific concern and would like an administrator to provide you with feedback prior to issuing a student's report card to parents.
It is the expectation in Harrison Township School District that report cards are completed accurately and professionally. Any errors brought to the attention of the administration will be documented with the staff member during the annual PIP/APR meeting. Please do so carefully, checking thoroughly for accuracy, and prepared on time. It is recommended a colleague or grade level partners review for each other. PLC time can be utilized to accomplish.

4th grade Battle of the Books participants

~Fifth grade students enjoyed a visit from students in Rowan University's "Engineering Without Borders" program (including a former PVS student!) The engineering majors conducted a bridge building design challenge-students had to collaborate to build the strongest bridge to hold a load, using limited materials. The Rowan students then debriefed with the classes, discussing the engineering design process, alternate approaches, etc. A fun, educational, and productive time was had by all involved!
~Student council members would like to thank the whole school for their generosity and support for our can food drive this year. We collected 767 pounds of food for families in need for the holidays.
