Laurel is a Community School!
What is a Community School?
Community Schools provide an opportunity to transform schools into student- and family-centered community hubs that deliver a ‘whole child education’.
How will we transform Laurel into a Community School?
- Include student academic, physical, social-emotional, and mental health support resources
- New and improved programming and services
- Provide safe and inviting environment for students, families, and the community as partners
- Share decisions and duties
Check out what we accomplished as a Community School so far!
Expanding Community Schools
Our Community School Coordinator has been reassigned to support the Community School Initiative district-wide, and will utilize our Laurel accomplishments as a starting point for even wider student success.

Food 4 Kids Backpack Program
The Food 4 Kids Backpack Program provides weekly FREE weekend food packages to elementary school students to support students from going hungry over the weekend when free school meals are unavailable. Last year we had over 75 students participate!
We understand prices are high and times are tough. If this could help and you are interested in participating, please ask our front office for the Backpack Program Referral Form and fill it out and turn it in. We will contact you and assist you with getting in the program.
