NEWS, RESOURCES AND LEARNING FOR PANTHER STAFF, 8/13/18
CONNECTING WITH THE WORLD TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Convergence Remix
The Digital Learning Coordinators are excited to bring Convergence REMIX to regional locations for all calendar workdays. Convergence REMIX is a digital learning conference for all educators to explore and learn how to infuse digital resources and strategies into teaching and learning. More Info on where the initial sessions being held for Track 3 Staff.
To clarify, we will offer this learning experience for all school calendars on the following dates, so no subs will be required:
- Track 3 & Traditional - Aug 14-17
- Track 2 - September 6 & 7
- Modified - September 24
- Track 1 - September 26 & 27
- Track 4 - October 17 & 18
Locations are yet to be determined for September and October dates. Updated information will be posted on remix.wcpss.net about future sessions and how to register after the August REMIX dates are complete.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 13-17, 2018
Staff Meeting: Please plan to meet at 7:45 on Thursday, August 16 in the Media Center. Please bring your laptops so we can work on this year's PDPs.
Forms: If you have not completed your beginning of the year forms/training videos, please do so ASAP.
Carpool: Kindergarten teachers: In your weekly newsletters, please inform parents it would be helpful if they would pull forward to the top of the circle to secure students in car seats to avoid holding up the line.
Planbook.edu: Thank you to those that have shared their plan book with Administration. Remember that there is a setting so that all you have to do is share it once for the current week through the end of June and you're set. If you haven't shared yours please do so. If you need help doing so, please let us know.
Track 4 Open House: We will have Open House on Tuesday, August 14th for track 4. There are two sessions: 6:20-7:20 and 7:25-8:25. Please make sure to prepare a talk for parents that includes general information, procedures, and an overview of what you will be teaching this year. It is helpful to provide parents with resources, as well, to help them help you meet your students’ instructional goals. If you have items you regularly share with parents you can share with other teachers, please send out your ideas so that we can all benefit from the best practices of others.
Early Release: There will an early release day this Friday. We eat in the classrooms on early release days. Students will be dismissed at 1:15. The EARLY RELEASE LUNCH AND SPECIALS SCHEDULE is posted in the PUE Master Folder/Schedules/Early Release Schedule and below. PTA will be providing lunch for staff on Friday. The first part of PD for Friday will be from Dreambox and the second part with grade level teams, led by their global committee rep working on the whole school Global module.
2018-2019 Early Release Schedule
Lunches:
- Students eat lunch IN THE ROOM on early release days. Please put trash in bags provided for pick up.
- Lunch times will remain the same except for the following changes: McNeeley, Woronka, Haley, Schoenebeck, and Boose get lunch at between 12:35-12:40.
Specials:
Specials will rotate between those that have specials BEFORE 12:30 PM and those that have specials after 12:30 PM.
* On August 17th, October 19th, December 21st, and February 15th follow the following schedule:
* Regular Specials schedule until 12:30.
* On September 28th, November 20th, January 18th, and March 8th follow the following schedule:
* 9:30-10:10- Kindergarten has specials
* 10:15-10:55- 3rd grade has specials
* 11:00-11:40- 2nd grade has specials
Recess:
IF you have a special, you do not have recess.
IF you do not have a special, you go to recess at your regular time.
If your regular recess time is AFTER 12:45 (1st, 2nd, Lamanna and McNeeley) please go at the following times:
* 11:00-11:30- 1st Grade
* 12:30-1:00- 2nd Grade and Lamanna (McNeeley can choose based on her combination class)
FILL IN DUTY: TRACK 3 OUT; Teachers/other staff may be asked to fill in based on a rotating basis. You will be notified by the office staff ASAP. The day below is your potential “coverage day.” Classroom teachers will cover during his/her lunch time. Other staff (IRT, CCR etc..) will cover as needed on days listed/and or in extenuating circumstances.
- Monday: Stunda, Averett, Sigmon, Bandi, Potter, Woronka, Office/Admin
- Tuesday: Daniel, VanAntwerp, Clark, Parrish, Larson, Haley, Office/Admin
- Wednesday: Rabon, Straub, Gainey, Whitley, Coleman, Schoenebeck, Office/Admin
- Thursday: Stepnoski, McKearney, Rich, Fry, Hopper, Garrett, Office/Admin
- Friday: Perry, Blocker, Barber, Andrews, Freer, Office/Admin
Forms: If you have not completed your beginning of the year forms/training videos, please do so ASAP. Deadline for our confirming to Central Office that our staff is complete is almost here.

OPEN HOUSE FOR TRACK 4
Open House for Track is Tuesday, August 14th. There will be two sessions; one at 6:20 and the second at 7:25. This is a great opportunity for you to meet your parents and share your instructional plan for 2018-19 and to provide parents with resources to help you meet your students’ instructional goals. If you have items you regularly share with parents you can share with other teachers, please send out your ideas so that we can all benefit from the best practices of others. Be sure to share the 3 and 1/2 minute PTA video at the start of each session to encourage families to join PTA. If you lost your video please let Kevin or Lara know. It is also helpful check out the Sunday Message for classroom incentives to encourage classrooms with families achieving the top PTA membership.

DUTIES FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 13-17, TRACK 3 OUT
AM Hallway: Blocker (Help greet parents/students, check with Ms. Person to see what is needed at the visitor sign-in tables or the carpool tag/ transportation table.)
AM Carpool: Newman- BE SURE TO PUT CONES OUT AND BRING THEM IN NEAR THE ENTRANCE.
AM Breakfast: Brown
AM Bus: Office/Lavin OUT (Write down arrival times of buses. Work with others to disembark students, trouble-shoot issues.)
PM Hallway: Schreier (Check all students for tags in the bus line. If a student does not have a tag, inform Fricke and Ms. Britt ASAP.)
PM Carpool: Perry/Garrett(outside,) Bednar/Barber/Biles (inside) Freer (Call carpool numbers. Do not call a number if parents do not have a tag. Those parents should park and come into the building. This includes all grade-levels.) PLEASE MAKE SURE TWO PEOPLE OUTSIDE AT ALL TIMES. If someone is absent, someone from inside should go outside to make sure things are covered.
PM Bus: Averett (Call one bus at a time. Write down arrival times. Work with Schreier to trouble-shoot, solve issues.
**If someone is not available, staff members that are available may be called to assist.**
