Clocker's Report

With the threat of rain for Sunday, most works were moved up to Saturday at Churchill. Here are the Highlights.

Revolutionary breezed 4 Furlongs in 48.31 and got "the work of the day" designation. He easily galloped out five-eights in 1:00.58 in company with Charming Kitten who galloped out in 1:01.89

Normandy Invasion worked five furlongs in 58.89 and galloped out a decent six furlongs in 1:12.13 going the last quarter in 24 flat.

Verrazano worked a very solid, but not flashy five furlongs in 59.51 galloping out well and getting 6 furlongs in 1:12.92 and pulling up seven eights in 1:27.51. All in all very nice work.

Black Onyx worked four furlongs in 48.59 over a pretty chewed up track and galloped out the five furlongs in 1:02.49

Mylute had a very easy maintenance work under Rosie Napravnik and went four furlongs in 50.60 galloping out five furlongs in a slow 1:06.13.

Palace Music worked with blinkers with Mike Smith aboard going four furlongs in a snappy 47.10 and pulled up six furlongs in 1:13.67.

Overanalyze with Gary Stevens up broke a length behind Palace Music but went four furlongs in 46.90 and pulled up six furlongs in 1:13.47 a solid performance.

The Kentucky Derby Mint Julep

Just to make sure you enjoy your week and the Kentucky Derby the traditional way, here is a great recipe for the Kentucky Derby Mint Julep.

Ingredients:

  • leaves from 4-5 mint sprigs
  • 2 sugar cubes or 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 2 1/2 oz bourbon
  • mint sprig for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Place the mint and simple syrup or sugar into a Julep cup, Collins Glass, Double Old-Fashioned Glass or Pint Glass.
  2. Muddle well to dissolve the sugar and to release the oil and aroma of the mint.
  3. Add the Bourbon
  4. Fill with crushed ice and stir well until the glass becomes frosty.
  5. Garnish with the mint sprig.

Cheers,

Jane
