Kia ora Whanau and Caregivers
We have had a fabulous week here at IPS. We were excited to have our Intermediates back from camp - we did miss them. Yesterday our Year 8 students hosted Ms Rosey Mabin and the Senior Student Leaders who came to share aspects of being a member of the Inglewood High School student community. The visit shared some insight to the Y8 Students who will attend an open day in Term 3.

Our Senior Team have had two sports exchanges this week against Mangorei and Merrilands. Our teams played with pride and determination. Thanks you to all the supporters who assisted with transport and coaching.. Check out the results further down.

Ruma tahi Kaiako and tamariki / Room 1 teachers and children are investigating and learning about Puanga and as part of this learning, they have had whanau / family members in for breakfast and helping prepare kai / food for their trip to Kohanga Moa Marae today. Lots of rich learning opportunities for all

Waitomo Arotahi Kāhui Ako (W.A.K.A) visit to Te Kāhui Ako o Kōhanga Moa

Yesterday as a school and with other members of our Kāhui Ako o Kōhanga Moa / Inglewood Community of Learning, hosted manuhiri / visitors from Waitomo Arotahi Kāhui Ako. We started the day with a powhiri / welcome where we were super proud of a first time performance of Kāhui Ako oKōhanga Moa Kapa Haka group. This has been a dream of Matua Kaarena Kingi, Whaea Marcelle Messenger and Lorraine Hitchcock for a while now and today we had a first glimpse. We had Inglewood High and Inglewood Primary wahine doing the karanga and then other rangitahi and tamariki from Inglewood High, Norfolk and Inglewood Primary joined in the waiata. We are hoping to extend this group to have students from all schools and centres within our Kahui Ako / Community of Learning. Key Leaders; Ms Rosey Mabin, Inglewood High School Principal, Sally Wooller, Inglewood Kindergarten Head Teacher, Andrew Georgeson, Principal Norfolk Primary, Richard Anderson Principal Kaimata School and MoE Senior Advisor together with three of our Board of Trustees Chairpersons; Grant Kenny, Mel Cook and Gavin Muir, shared their valuable insight of the benefits of our Kahui Ako, with our guests . The day was full of celebration, sharing and a timely reminder of how amazing our Inglewood Community is.

Inglewood High School Y12 Students helping our young students

Our Juniors have had lots of visitors in their team this week. Fifteen, year 12 students came down from Inglewood High School this week to work with our Junior tamariki during literacy time. This is a fantastic initiative from David Williams of Inglewood High and the group will with us each Wednesday to continue to listen to our young ones read.

Sporting Success

Over the last week our Year 5 and 6 students have been involved in sports exchanges and competitions. On Queen's Birthday Monday a 7 A side rugby team finished third at the Primary Schools 7's tournament, beating a much larger Stratford team in the 3rd/ 4th playoff. It was great to see some wonderful team tries and effort with tackling against often larger opposition.

On Tuesday we played Merrilands in an exchange and came away victors in rugby, 98-10, football 8-1 and shared the netball games 1 each. Yesterday we played Mangorei school, and won the rugby 32-24, and the netball 13-11, but went down in a narrow loss in the football. All teams are still in the hunt for a semi final as we look forward to our last exchange at St Josephs, New Plymouth, June 21.

Many thanks to all our coaches, helpers and supporters of all these teams.
