Am I Caring for Others, Personally and Professionally?
One of my absolute favorite quotes come from Wendy Mass, New York Times bestselling author, “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”
As educators, we’re constantly looking for ways to move our school forward. But with all of the events of the past few weeks affecting families and students in area schools and our very own school family, I was reminded that the best idea will fall flat on its face if we prioritize progression over passion for people. We have to be cognizant of the fact that every day, we all most likely wake up with some type of personal and/or professional baggage. If we choose to ignore the basic needs of others, moving our school forward is never going happen. We must intentionally balance our goals and initiatives by also focusing on needs that may have nothing to do with education. Please make time in the week ahead for casual discussion and care that may have nothing to do with initiatives or education but everything to do with the welfare of others.
